How many of you use a log beat and try to keep track/beat previous PR's. I feel it is an often overlooked aspect of making good progress by means of progressive overload.

Do you log workouts? Why or why not?

      Agree.

Being able to log reps, tempo, weight lifted, etc is very important for progress. If one continues with the same loads, same amount of volume, same tempo, it will be impossible to make continual progress.

The body needs periods of going from minimum effective volume to max recoverable volume, just like with gear and food.

If we do the same thing over and over again and expect different results, that is just insane

i have kept one for my entire career. i note everything down to the t. that way if stuff isnt moving along or making progress it's easier for me to identify where it is coming from. nagging shit here and there compounding. i can go back and look at the movements and iron out that or improper warm up etc.... sleep as well. i keep a mini log here that i have been severely slacking on since my kid's sports are running me ragged

I feel many of the young kids and older folk don't keep logs. It's hard to know whether or not strength is truly increasing without keeping records. I like how you roll sir.

At one point I was going to log shit, but it never happened, I go on how I feel when I hit the gym. I know how much I lift, with which body part, Reps, weight , pretty much everything.
I’m not super precise, but I know what I have to improve and every week I always try and up either weight or volume. But that’s just me.

I have always trained by feel but I've never completed bodybuilding...few strong man and power events when I was younger, couple mma deals, so really was more about
      Sport then micros.

I've enjoyed a 30+ year gym life in my short 40 years...I've liked training by feel but that doesnt mean I didnt and dont study study study.
