TweetI rarely train calves. I used to do commercial construction. Up and down a 16' ladder hammered my calves. They still look good and that has been more than 20 years.
Tweetjumping rope is a calf burner. Add a weighted vest and it kills. If you can do 10 minutes then you are a badass. I do not jump rope as it hurts my back.
I used to due a high incline on the treadmill with my weighted vest. again 10 minutes is like doing hundreds of reps. I see people on the treadmill with it inclined all the way. then these dum dums grab the hand holds and lean back. I guess if you want to train your grip and your back then it is fine. But for Jesus sake I assume they want to work their legs. If you lean back then just leave the damn thing flat.
Anyway. I do 5 minutes at max incline 3 times a week for 5 minutes a clip. My calves have grown some. I fear I am to have tiny calves forever even if they are ripped, stripped and striated with veins all through them. they are still skinny.
Fuzo I do mix in heavy calf raises in sets of 10 one to two times a week. I think your calves get used to the work you put them through and switching it up is important to make them grow.
TweetWhat worked for me at 6'2" was standing calf raises 15 reps each set. slow 5 sec count negative ,followed by 15 sec static hold stretch, then explode positive.
Tweethave you ever tried only focusing on the stretch to neutral portion? added quite of bit onto mine by focusing on that part. the way it was explained to me is that the calves are primed and designed to work from neutral to the contracted position so that is ok but working them in the area where they arent accustomed to,is where the money maker is

TweetGuns can you go into detail in stretch the neutral position
Tweetstretch is as far down as you can go into the bottom of the movement and neutral would be when your foot is flat on the platform. so you can do the entire range of motion but the focus needs to be on those points. i like to do the full range and then finish up with the stretch to neutral until i fail completely. you can also overload that position very effectively
