I'm out of town for work this week and am training at the Edge Fitness near the hotel. Didn't get up early enough to go in the morning, which is my preference, so I went in the afternoon.
Leg day, so mentally I'm headed for the squat rack. Never been in this gym before, so I'm looking, looking, Oh, I see, 3 power racks. All occupied.
"Shit. This is why I built my home gym." I look around and find the leg press unoccupied and reluctantly decide to do that first instead. I'm not real happy, don't want to be fatigued and possibly get hurt doing squats. But I am very limited on time, so I jump right in and do 5 or so quick sets of leg press including a couple warm-ups. Finally I realize that the guy deadlifting every five minutes or so in front of one of the power racks is leaving a barbell unattended in the power rack. So I jump in and squat in the power rack while he finishes up his deadlifts in front of it.... Strong kid, BTW, is deadlifting 505. Taller than me and smaller in the upper body but clearly much stronger than me, at least in deadlifts!
Did my squats; only went up to 315 instead of 365, but felt good and definitely worked everything hard!
Then found an empty leg extension and seated leg curl, so supersetted those. This place has some Hoist equipment, which sort of combines body weight with the stack or plate loaded weight. The leg curl was one of these. A little awkward initially but once I got the hang of it I liked it a lot.
Got an awesome workout! I could hardly walk when I left the gym after 30 or so minutes, legs pumped BIG TIME, winded... all the good stuff.
Probably did myself a favor by switching up the order. I'm a creature of habit; I don't like tonchange things up. But I'm certain it's good for me to do so!
