So I bit the bullet about 4 months ago and hired a personal trainer. Sort had to put my pride aside. I hired him primarily to push me in MOD work, stretching, joint manipulation, trigger points and all that Jazz. I’ve been training for 25 plus years but at 40 this year I noticed things don’t work like they used too...I don’t want to stiffen up and lose athleticism and cower to injuries. I’d like to stay as young as possible. I see him once a week. Not a ton just some accountability. It’s so easy to skip this part of working out!

I can see where that is a tough bullet to bite. I have thought about it to. I'm 45 with over 30 years in. I have had several personal trainer certifications but I could use some accountability in getting in the gym.

Personal trainer are good if you get the right one. I had a medical situation and a trainer pushed the right amount for me to heal myself

That s great 6p6! Sometimes we need that trainer to kick our ass especially on those days we want to walk away on those last reps. Wont give up with someone next to us. Fuzo got me a trainer when I turned 40 too. One of my best years. Keep up the great work

Just keep in mind almost every great athlete has a trainer or a team of trainers.
Even guys like Steve Jobs had Life coaches to help them make better decisions. Anyone can train themselves bit a coach brings it to a new level

Hell yes. I could use a life coach to keep me accountable and attacking life every day. I like to think I*m totally self motivated, but that aint always so. Sometimes having another perspective on things is good. How do you go about finding a coach?

I agree but I have seen some real idiots that are life coaches but I would sign up.

I can see that. I taught sales and motivation for many years. I have coached salespeople that of course includes dealing with life problems and what gets in their way in the path of success. It can get tough as we get older to do that for ourselves.
It's a little like that article I wrote about growth and getting out of our comfort zone.

i coach myself and finally bite the bullet a year or so back and hired on someone to take care of my stuff. nice to have someone else pull the trigger on things for your and learn a little on the side as well. i still control the majority of my stuff though.

if i were you i would look into one of those functional sports training facilities that athletes use. that would probably be better geared toward your goals than an everyday pt

Of course theres that old saying "Those who cant do it teach it" LOL
I know some life coaches who I would never hire because their own lives are a mess. Just like counselors and psychologists-some are more messed up than any of their patients. lol
I like being independent and never depending on anyone else, but coaching is a different thing. I would consider it, but wouldnt even know where to start in finding a life/business/entrepreneur coach/advisor

I'm 48 and been training since 19 - with a pretty long break in the middle... I had a great training partner when I started training in the 80's who was 33 and a competitive bodybuilder at the time. He was more like a peraonal trainer to me. I learned an awful lot from him, and from the gym owner, who was himself a competitive bodybuilder in the 60's and 70's. So I feel like I have a oretty good handle on weight training and I push myself pretty hard in that department.

All that said, I hired a trainer maybe a year ago or year and a half, maybe, to do conditioning with me. I will NOT push myself to do thar unless I'm playing hockey, and I don't play enough to stay conditioned. This woman is awesome. She is creative and personable and very much in shape. She is my wife's trainer, and has been for 5 or 6 years, now. She somehow has the ability to come up with challenging workouts; make them fun; keep me motivated; and man, does she wear me out! She never fails to have me on my hands and knees, gasping for breath! LOL!

Oh that’s what this guy is, it’s a fairly large studio set up but all geared for specific training.
