TweetI have not in quite sometime now. I did it about once a week five or so years ago. Really enjoyed it. Kept me lean and was so much more fun than running on a treadmill.
TweetI have been doing more of this the past 2 months and notice my arms are hardening up and I am staying lean.
Does anyone train at all with heavy bag work? Has anyone noticed it helped them?

TweetFuzo used to do it years ago at the local Martial Arts place. He absolutely loved it. He then bought a heavy bag for the house and did it at home with some Bas Rutten DVDs. He took me to 1 class and it really was an awesome workout . So awesome I got the flu within a few hours, lol. Would love to see him get back at it but I think those days are over. Keep us posted on your progress!

TweetI train Muay Thai, have been for 8 years. I always warm up on the heavy bag. I have found if you just want cardio, smash away. If you want to get better take classes. It will make your bag work WAY better. You will actually learn to fight as a bag is all but useless for that, bag work without training will lead to bad habits being ingrained and hard to fix if you decide to do it for real.
That said it is a great way to work, explosive combos while never stopping moving for 3 minute rounds with 1 minute rest are great.
here is a great punching drill. emulate this guys stance and punches. great technique. elbows in and straight shots in the middle. HARD to see these strikes coming. Most folk loop em which have their place.
here is the killer

TweetI did this years ago and loved it.. great cardio and gets you in great shape.. me and a friend would train together all the time and would get into some great sparring matches and being going at 100% before the class was over..some personal things happened in life and stopped going..
Tweetapbt549, it is hard not to go a little harder as sparring continues. BUT, it is not good for technique or your well being. I light spar 85% of the time and only go 100% occasionally. Normally we hold back as these are camp mates I am going against and neither one of us wants to get hurt. That said control is hard when a guy is getting the better of ya. And competition between friends is a bear!
TweetThanks guys! Good vids and good feedback! Yeah I'm loving it!

TweetBest thing of kickboxing it all kicks are above the waist. nothing hurts worse than the deadleg or shin to shin checks at full power.
this is the leg of a Muay Thai practitioner not a body builder, so it is skinny.
Tweetmartial arts training have helped me to stay fit
