I'd been having some minor issues with lower back pain with some of the workouts at the Crossfit gym I go to. Been doing Crossfit for about 3 years now and I do looooove it. But I need to change things up a bit.
I'd been training in the gym for years before I went that route so I went today for the first time in a couple years. I missed doing all the other exercises for body parts. For example, Crossfit would always have a max Olympic lift, then the workout of the day. So it's all compound stuff. Benchpress..shoulder press..power cleans....squats...etc. Then the workout would focus on the lift you did.
Anyways....it was nice to go into the gym and do butterflies...cable crossovers...dumbbell presses...etc. so I'm just gonna do some good old fashioned lifting for a few months, then probably go back gradually.

Always good to change it up brotha. You'll get some great benefits from going back to some old school weightlifting. Probably help a lot as you move back in to the crossfit regimen.

i loved crossfit but the toll it took on my back and joints was terrible. I never even used the prescribed weight. but i was in such fantastic shape when I did it 2 times a week. Muay Thai 3 times a week and ran 1X a week. I do not think I will ever be that fit again.

time off is rough as going back to it from a regular workout you loose that cardio QUICK

Haha! Thanks! It feels good to "just lift" than lifting mixed with intense cardio. Been lifting like a mad man and I love it. Once I go back I know my personal records on the Olympic lifts will be broken easy!
