So I had lower back surgery beginning of the year to take out a herniated disc L5-S1. Nerve pain is gone but that disc space is collapsing which according to dr. I am still having back pain. What are some good exercises to strengthen my core and hopefully help alleviate some of this back pain?

Whatever I can tolerate but avoid bending too much and I'm not doing exercises that push or pull straight down on my spine squats snd standing calf raises for example. I never focused too much on my core over the years so I need help and suggestions.
