I've always respected them but was not really to drawn to that side of the training spectrum. So I decided to try a powerbuilder routine today for squats and it was brutal. After an extended warm up I proceeded to do 10 sets of 3 reps @ 300lbs ass to grass. I didn't think it was going to be as brutal as it turned out to be. I will incorporate this once maybe twice a month on my squat days as well as dead days. If you haven't tried it before I suggest trying it.

i did the sport for a while in my early 20s and really couldnt get into it. i have always been more into bodybuilding and so i pursued that side of training. now fast forward to a couple years back. i started watching and reading some of the power lifting dudes stuff. dave tate louie simmons and a bunch of others. man their is a ton of info that translates over to what i do not to mention these dudes are massive and move some silly weight. most of the guys coming up now are actually in pretty good shape as well, which you can see a switch in the trends

Yes there is mos def a new breed in the powerlifting world, a lot of it has to do with their dieting though as well as training. You are correct though a lot of what they do translates well into bodybuilding.

Don't get me wrong I love moving weight but never really wanted to pursue that aspect so much as wanted to look good naked lmao. But it is so nice and such a confidence boost once you get past benching 3 plates, squatting 4 plates (not there yet), and dead lifting 4 plates (no joke got real dizzy when I first deadlifted 415, not from the pull but from the roar I let out immediately afterwards lol)

They can be bothersome, they were for me at first until I adjusted my stance as well as technique. I personally hate front squats I still do them but I hate them lol.
