TweetHi All,
Question about taking a break from training. I underwent wrist surgery and can't lift for a month. It's killing me but I need to let my hand recover. Have any of you ever been off lifting for a month and how much muscle/strength did you lose? This will be my first time not training for a LONG time, I hate it.....Hopefully I won't lose too much of what I've worked so hard to achieve. Thanks!

TweetFuzo had had plenty of surgeries including both hands, both shoulders, neck, etc. he still went to the gym and did cardio, and legs. Bumped up his protein also. he was doing that longer for a month though. he always came back stronger and better. let your body heal, do what you can and don't rush back. Muscle memory is a savior

TweetThanks guys, that makes me feel better. I'm so addicted to lifting its ridiculous, I think this will be harder mentally than physically in the end.
TweetShe makes a very great point muscle memory
TweetI've taken 3 months off before and didn't lose much at all. Taking a month might hurt your strength a bit but keep your diet in check and I don't think you have anything to worry about
TweetIf you don't mind me asking what happened to your wrist?
TweetLike baby says keep diet right and do cardio
Tweetive been off for up to 6 months at a time due to my past job. scale weight I would drop about 10-15 lbs.. it was the mirror that hurt the most also the way your clothes fit that I noticed.. I always come back .. diet and determination my brutha.. one month you got that in the bag... hell might do your body a bit of good to rest if it has never had it. don't worry your good
TweetBecause of so much shit I have goinng on my training has been hit or miss the past month or so. If you continue you to eat decent you wont loose alot, you may look a little worse but I didnt loose much strength and the looks will come back soon after training regular again.
TweetI had a carpal tunnel release surgery on my right wrist. I've been fighting carpal tunnel for years and tried everything from braces, to therapy and cortisone shots. It got to the point where I couldn't play guitar anymore and my hand was constantly numb. I'm glad it's done but hating being out of the gym! I'll be doing lots of legs and cardio this month.
TweetFuzo has had that done on both hands years ago. I know the one acts up still but he was able to do what he used to and more in the gym after that.

TweetI gotcha, I was just asking cuz Iv been having issues with mine as well but mine is just tendinitis so I just gotta rest em for a few wks. Heal quickly my man.
TweetMy wrists are f***ed as well. Broken bones and years of fighting and heavy bag ruined mine. I still hit the heaby bag but it hurts alot if i put any power behind it. I just mainly have to do quick jabs on it when i use it fir cardio
