TweetHey guys I set a goal this year to do from a 36 inch waist to a 32 by my 40th birthday. I was successful and am setting a new goal for next year. I would like to compete in the physique class because genetically 6'0 200lbs is my home. I'm long and lean and not prone to packing on the pounds.
So question is who out there has competed in this class and what information can you point me to our give?
I am researching this on my own, but nothing is better than a vets advice.

TweetYou doing just like the man I'm looking for!! Lol!
Prep coach is a for sure. It's funny but once you commit it's difficult to say when. I mean I feel like I need to prep more and more before I bring in the prep coach.
Reality is I have to determine which event I want to attend and get the coach in accordingly.
TweetWE have some great competitors here at FG with years of experience. Hopefully they will chime in. Guns01, GotClen, born2juice4ever are just a few of them. Best of luck to you

TweetMy first suggestion would be to post a pic front and back view. This sport is so driven by the waist up. From the navel to the cool wave in your hair. Great smile and a smoking set of abs. It is a LOOK. That shines. Everyone else is just dudes in long ass shorts. I just got the new NPC mag yesterday. It has full coverage from last years nationals. I think they had 5 or 6 different classes for these dudes. All line up it is very clear what looks good.
Now at the local level there will me one or two dudes that just shine and 15 that are average. So, you have to ask yourself. Can you be that dude with great abs, nice shoulders with some back? Great grill and good looks? This is very much geared towards a modeling look. I'll take a photo of this page and try to post up here just so you can see the look.
It all starts with training and nutrition. Then presentation with some good old god given shape.
Post up pics please.

TweetThanks I will try to get you a good pic of front and back.

This is a current front. Not a very good one picture quality wise.
TweetJust getting here and know I have a long ways to go.
TweetWell the structure looks good. Broad shoulder and a small waist. My first thought is to say train your abs with weight. You want them to show real easy. So, thicker is better. I think you have a good starting base honestly.
TweetThanks. I will focus more on them. Do you have any preferred exercises you like to use to train your abs?
TweetThey all work. Add weight where you can. Other wise focus on a slow contraction. It does not take a million crunches to build abs. It takes controlled focus contraction.
I do a circuit once a week when I'm prepping for a show:
reverse crunch off decline bench. legs off. 20 reps
Weight cable crunch 10 to 15 reps
Big Swish ball crunch slow, stretch back and crunch up
hanging leg raise. Dont let legs go straight down. Keep knees bent and raise from there.
Old School crunch on floor, feet up on bench. Movement is about 4 or 5 inches.
I'll do 2 or 3 non stop circuits of this or till I get a ab cramp. Then I'm out.
TweetThrow some planks in there to, they are great for a whole lot. Helps those abs pop out too

TweetThank you both. I'm going to hit them hard and post some pics!!
Any additional advice?
TweetYour ripped dude. I wish I was that lean.
TweetOk here are the top guys from Nationals 2012. When I say there is a look this pic confirms just that.
