Before NY passed the new law requiring a permit for semi-auto rifles I purchased and AR15 and have taken it to the range twice since. My son (13 1/2) was a little intimidated by it so I rented him a Ruger 10/22 and he loved it. He is in the navy sea cadets and has applied for marksman training in New Hampshire on oct 22nd. When we were as the range the owner watched him load the mag, insert it into the mag well, check for a Misload and then fire as if he had done it quite a bit. The owner remarked “you can tell he has had safety training”. It was a very proud dad moment as he really learned just from watching a lot of YouTube videos and military movies and really wants to be a soldier. He wants to try a bolt action rifle next before we buy him anything. He is very into the WWII era and especially those firearms. My grandfather was a World War II vet and my son loved listening to his stories. Before my grandfather passed he gave my son his Purple Heart. It is really one of his most prized possessions.

I am a huge fan of John wick which led me to terms taractical. I would love to be able to practice three gun competition shooting. Another reason I need to leave NY. We really don’t have anything like that around here.

We are into airsoft and have played games with friends a few times at an indoor park. This weekend there is a flea market at the near by outdoor park amd we are going to inquire about playing there with a team of 8. We have a lot of practicing to do to work as a team(so far we played 4 on 4 but it was totally uncoordinated). My son actually wants to practice some tactics in the back yard after work today. It has been a great bonding experience for us.
