Pomegranate Enhances Bone Formation

TweetThe polyphenol antioxidants of many fruits are considered to have a healthy impact on bones by enhancing bone formation and reducing bone deterioration. A new animal study with pomegranate shows that it is a potent bone helping nutrient.

The study fed pomegranate to 50 pregnant mice, and then analyzed the bone health of the embryos on day 19, compared to control subjects. The results showed that the embryos of pomegranate fed mice had larger, better calcified bones. The pregnant mice fed pomegranate also had higher bone calcium content.

While pomegranate is best known for its ability to support cardiovascular health, it never hurts to have as many nutrients as possible on your bone support team.
