World’s best female fighter Cristiane Santos stripped of title after anabolic steroid usage
TweetCristiane Justino Santos, who is one of the most dangerous women’s in the world, has been tested positive anabolic steroids just a day before her most devastating career win. The news has been released by the California State Athletic Commission.
The 26-year-old featherweight champion of the women’s Strikeforce, Santos has been tested positive for the anabolic steroid Stanazolol which is also known as Winstrol. The test took place on December 16, just a day before she knocked out the top contender for the title, Japan’s Hiroko Yamanaka. The fight between Santos and Yamanaka was over in a matter of seconds, 16 secs to be exact.
Dana White has confirmed that Santos has been stripped of her championship. Moreover, the result of the Strikeforce fight held on December 17 at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego has been overturned. According to reports the commission has changed their decision and ruled a no contest.
“Our primary concern is for the health and safety of fighters,” CSAC Executive Officer George Dodd stated in a press release.
“Anabolic agents and other banned substances put not only the users of those agents at risk, but their opponents as well. The commission simply will not tolerate their use.”
Dodd’s press release informed that the commission received the results of the test on December 23 from the World Anti-Doping Agency lab at UCLA.
The length and time of Santos’ suspension has not been revealed yet, however it will retroactively start from December 16. In related cases from the past California have suspended fighters for a year.
Santos, who is recognized by most analysts as the best fighter in the world will have the right to appeal once her suspension has been confirmed. So far Dodd has refrained from giving more information on the issue but news will be brought into light on Monday.
