TweetAnother war on the horizon I suppose, as if 7 isn't enough. I can't believe how many countries we are actively invading. I guess the term department of defense should be changed to department of offense. Perhaps I sound soft but I am just sick of all these wars. I understood Afghanistan and the search for Bin Laden, but now it is apparent that there is no end, only more and more countries to invade.
The media has done a great job in building support for perpetual wars all over the Middle East. I just don't know why everyone buys into the bs. But one thing is certain, the vast majority in the military who vote are clearly not in favor of continuing to be at war. The proof is the fact that Ron Paul has consistently received more campaign donations from active duty military than all of the other Republican candidates combined, and double the amount Obama has received. That is a fact that cannot be refuted, though the media doesn't discuss it. But we know Ron Paul will not be the candidate to go against Obama so I guess we might as well accept the fact that we will be at war for the rest of our lifetimes or until we go bankrupt. We have now passed the 10 year mark and no end is in sight. Pulling out of Iraq will amount to nothing short of several thousand soldiers being moved to Africa, Yemen, Libya, and other countries. However, their will still be a very large presence in Iraq, and contractors will replace a lot of the military there.
I don't imagine many people on here agree with me on this issue but I felt the urge to speak my mind on it. I did 6 four month deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan between early 2004 and late 2009 and thus had a lot of time and experience to develop my view on the wars. Some soldiers have a different take on it than me, but a lot agree with me too. As long as we are at war we will continue to lose more of our freedoms, which is always the case with war.
Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master. George Washington
