So I am looking around at different vehicles since we paid my wife's car off. It's getting close to time for me to find a truck. I like a factory height truck with some all terrain tires on it. But I also like the lifted look with all terrains on there. What are the pros and cons of each in your opinions? This would be on a crew cab 4x4....Ford or Chevy. It would also be on a gas burner too. I just don't do enough towing to justify the expense of a diesel.

      pro: looks cool

cons: bad mpg, very hard on the transmission, depending on how tall truck becomes less functional.

I've had lifted trucks before and they're cool but usually totally impractical.

That's pretty much what I was thinking as well. Usually a gear change helps the tranny but hurts the mpg. I'll probably just stick with stock height and all terrains.
