      Default Tired of my job....

I have been working with AT&T for over 10 years now and believe me, it is not a hard job. I basically work onsite at a hospital and cover over 50 of their locations. That is all we do. I get paid well and I don't really have a lot of stress until contract time comes up every few years.

With that being said, the work is SOOOO monotonous!! Sometime I wish I had just gone into business with my dad (dozer and backhoe type construction). I did this as a kid and I loved working outside. I am mainly just getting tired of working for someone and making them all the money. I could probably make much more money doing the same work within my own business.

You guys ever go through these kinds of ruts? I know it would be stupid to quit my job with benefits and retirement to do something like that. There just seems to be a ton of money(a ton by my standards) to be made out there and you can never get your hands on it working for someone else.

I used to work for them when it was Ameritech. I also got paid well ut it was boring as hell. I did not get to use my skills and potential at all in that job. I stuck it out until they had a loyoff and then I was let go. Just try to tuff it out as you will get past this rut. We all this is no time to look for other work.

I guess this was more of a rant than anything. I know it wouldn't be smart to look for a new job or start a business now. I guess it's just one of those times...

I wouldn't do anything to hinder my family anyway. They are first priority.

That's alright, we've all probably felt the same at some point. At my company now for 12+ years and have had the itch several times. Never acted because, even though it may have been good for me personally, it was not good for my family and their current way of life.

Sounds like a good time to take a week or two of vacation. Go to a beach, relax and maybe come back refreshed. It'll pass man

Funny you mention that...I am off next week. Maybe that will get me back in the groove.

In '02 I quit my job because I hated my boss, loved the job. I was paid well. I bought my own business with a partner (one of my clients from my job) I put everything back into the business and only took home 4-5k a month. After 2 years, I expanded, had over 30 trucks & vans and was about to buy a house on 20 acres(in California) All paperwork, everything, was kept in the office and I had accountants to take care of finances.
I took a vacation and came back to $100.00 in the bank. My partner was using a fake name, fired the accountant a few months earlier and skipped town without a trace. I ended up homeless on the streets. No gas for my car. No money to pay for a phone or to pay the rent.
It took me a while to get back on my feet. I'm back in the same field as where I started, with a different company, but looking back...I wish I still had my old job.
