TweetDamn, what did you do??? Dont quote me, but from what Ive heard a lot of hammy tears will heal on there own and they may not even want to MRI you right away to see how it responds to treatment. It seems like there is only certain cases where they actually do any kind of surgery on a torn hammy. I know with me though, I always want to know exactly whats going on and would push for an MRI if I thought I needed it. Hope it works out though!

I was racing my step son on foot.....he was on his four wheeler. I heard it pop, grabbed my hamstring and hit the dirt in full stride. I had to lay there for a few minutes before I could hobble to the house. It is feeling better now. It's just tight. I have been wearing a compression wrap. The bruising makes it look worse. I did some research and it seems like it was just a grade 1 and might have slipped into a grade two, but it basically just said rest, ice, compression, and elevate for healing. I have been doing that.....a little!! I haven't been putting ice on it as I should. I elevate when I can. I have to work so resting is not an option. I wear the compression wrap all of the time.

TweetDude keep that ice on it man!! You can just sit on it which is easy but kinda sucks. Or just bring an ice pack to bed and leave it on for 20 mins then throw it on the floor and go to sleep at night. These are the things you need to take care of quick or they will nag you forever. BTW, you arent a cyborg, stop racing motorized vehicles, lol!
Tweetlmao!
Hope it heals up fine for you bro.

TweetHaha!! I hear you Strella!! But yeah, I'm going to hit it with the ice tonight
One question though....my knee feels unstable now. Like my knee cap. Is this probably the fluid from it being swollen? It just started today.

TweetI would assume it prob feels weak just because of the injury and you may be trying to compensate by using slightly different muscles to walk and stuff which can certainly feel weird. The inflammation can make it feel strange too. I would say keep the compression and ice on it for at least the next week and see how it does. If you are still feeling like it is really imbalanced or not improving then I would see a doc. Right now a doc would prob just tell you to take some NSAIDs (ibuprofin etc) ice and rest anyway. If you arent a pro athlete they usually take more of a wait and see approach with this kinda stuff. Google hamstring tear rehab or something and you will come across a lot of orthopedic type websites that will prob have some good info on treatment.
TweetI iced it last night and brought some ibuprofin with me to work, so we will see how that does. Thanks for the advice. Maybe it will be better before long. 4-6 weeks puts me right at my vacation to the beach. I hope it's good by then. Walking in the sand would SUCK right now!!
