When UFC lightweight contender, Anthony Pettis, revealed this week that he planned on taking a fight this spring instead of sitting on the sidelines to await the result of the Frankie Edgar-Gray Maynard championship rubber match, many fans speculated on possible opponents for "Showtime". Even agent, Malki Kawa, suggested that his client, Kenny Florian, would be interested in the bout. Now it appears that the UFC has instead opted to set up a fight between Pettis and perennial fan-favorite, Clay Guida, for a May or June UFC card, according to Heavy.com:

A lightweight bout between Clay Guida and final WEC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis is being targeted for UFC 130 or UFC 131. Sources close to the bout informed Heavy.com of the news Monday night.

Clay "The Carpenter" Guida (28-11)
Win Takanori Gomi - submission (guillotine choke) - UFC 125
Win Rafael dos Anjos - submission (jaw injury) - UFC 117
Win Shannon Gugerty - submission (arm triangle choke) - UFC on Versus 1

Anthony "Showtime" Pettis (13-1)
Win Ben Henderson - decision (unanimous) - WEC 53
Win Shane Roller - submission (triangle choke) - WEC 50
Win Alex Karalexis - submission (triangle choke) - WEC 48

UFC 130 is expected to take place on Memorial Day Weekend in Las Vegas, while UFC 131 is rumored for Vancouver, BC on June 11th.
Man, I think this could be a dangerous fight for Pettis. I am still sticking with him to win though
