What do you do for this? I've always done well fighting injuries after years of experience but I've got it worse than I've ever had it in both elbows...

I've had it for months, left elbow is the back of the elbow towards the muscle side under the forarm...right elbow is on the top of the arm a few inches below elbow to a few inches into the bicep heads.

I do all the dailies rest, ice, heat, compression...I've taken time off and it comes back, I've tried working through it and it is still there...NEED suggestions!

      thx 6

You can take all the anti-inflammatories and painkillers that you want, a tendonitis won't heal unless you take time off the gym. I know it's not what you wanna hear but it's the truth.

There are also some things that you should do: have your teeth checked regularly (yes, bad teeth can trigger tendonitis) and also avoid certain exercises (those that hurt basically).

I hope that you will get better soon.

Try and fig out if specific exercises are causing flare ups. When my elbow was bothering me it was because of doing to many skull crushers. I didnt stop training I just chose othre tri exercises for a while that didnt hurt. Try heat pre workout to loosen up the ligs and tendons. Taking collagen supps on a empty stomach can help some as well. The best answer I have found is fairly expensive; Anodyne Therapy. Its a laser therapy system used primarily for peripheral neuropathy in diabetics, but it is used in nearly all good rehab centers and by a lot of college and pro sports teams for injury healing. It basically increases blood flow to the injury and supports healing. I have had a system for about 2 years and use it all the time. Down side; its expensive, $1400 or so although I got mine for $800 because I got a refurbished model from the manufacturer but its still under warranty and seemed brand new to me. check out anodynetherapy.com for all the details if u want to.

I have had this *****(tendinitis) before. You should try going to 50% on all pressing movements and stop skull crushers for 4 weeks or so. Push downs with a monster mini band really helped me keep size but not stress the tendons. Mobic is a prescription anti-inflammatory that's great for athletes.

There is a lot of good advice in this thread. You are young and you will find the solution for you, I am sure. The hardest part is you have to become a detective and find out what specific things are creating this problem and stop those things until you heal. Unless it is your job and your livelihood to do those things, you have to be able give them up for a while and replace them with other activites that are not injurious.

7 years ago I had a severely torn rotator cuff. My range of motion was about 5%. I can remember it like yesterday sitting in the surgeons office while he looked at my MRI and said "This is bad. There is no other option for you than surgery." I was devastated and depressed. I am here to tell you that I NEVER had that surgery and within 12 months I was 95% HEALED. Never take a doctors word as the final word. The greatest physician on earth is the one inside you now. Research. Learn about your body. The human body is astounding in its ability to heal and recover.THE POWER THAT MADE THE BODY CAN HEAL THE BODY.

skulls did me in...i kept doing them far longer than i should have. also....the pain in my elbow got to the point that ALL pressing movements hurt, including any chest or shoulder excersizes. point is, unless you address it early, it will effect ALL of your pushing excersizes and there is no working around it! i still havnt had cortizone shots, but now its starting to hurt on the hammerstrength chest press!!! so....i got that going for me

This is excellent advise!!! Dzone is right, research and get to know your own body! I have also suffered with bad injuries and pain and have learned so much that sometimes doctors have asked me how I know so much. If you are not satisfied with what a doc may say, don't give up and keep searching. Good luck!

Just know that ibuprofen used to be by prescription only until the 1980s. It is a DRUG. Its ok to use in the short term, but the long term side effects of ibuprofen and other NSAIDS are horrible. Sorry, not trying to be a buzz kill.
