Funny talk with my daughter

TweetSo ofcourse she wants to be like dad and I have a bunch of tattoos. Well she said dad when I get older can I get a tattoo I said no. When you move out of my house and you are on your own then you can. But I dont want her ever to get one ever. Why,she's my daughter thats why and even though I have alot of them I dont want her to have them. Is that being wrong, Yes but I'm her dad who cares.I'm a big beleiver that I dont want her to get her ears peirced until she's 18. Why,because I think women look beautiful without earings swo why have them. Use the clip ons.And for make up she womnt wear it in my house until 18,why because she's beautiful without out. I tell my wife that also. Why wear make up. A little eye liner ok but I just think inner beauty is alot better then a ton of makeup

Tweetmost definitely. We've been on thatb with our daughter lately. I'm instilling that "inner beauty" thing and personality. I can tell it'll be a process. She's a great, compassionate little lady, but she still makes remarks that she won't once she has a good understanding of the whole personality, smarts, and so on...the most important factors which make someone beautiful. I like when she sees a movie that has some pretty chik that's a bytch because it's that perfect example of what I can't really get across to a 5yr old. She just doesn't catch it, and I think she's not interested at all right now. A hot female can turn unattractive real quick with that nasty personality.

The thing I don't want to do is have my daughter resent the hell out of me, then go nuts when she gets the 1st chance. It's just a fine line of discipline dosed with love. man...I dread those early teen yrs.

Tweetyeah, my daughter loves tattoos. The temporary little girly ones. She's liked mine since she was a baby. I remember when she would be drinking her bottle and she would trace my tattoos on my delts with her little finger. She would rub to feel the slight bumpiness of the tattoo. She still has her airbrush tat from bike week last weekend. She had to have a little mermaid throwing little stars. She will know better. than to go getting inked up with some stupid shit while doing some stupid shit. I always like to pick out the huge nasty woman with a giant tat on her leg as an example of how not to be.lol

TweetI believe parents have to set rules and standards, but you can't keep them from everything. You don't want them to rebel because you are to strict. Then they will end up leaving the house one way, and changing into what they want when they are out the door.

I see this with parents when they make a big deal out of how a kid wants their hair. It is just hair. You really have to pick your battles. The more you say no, the more they want to do it. Sometimes reverse psychology really does work.

That reminds me of something. We actually just went through it with our daughter this morning. She is very much a girly-girl, but she wants to emulate daddy all the time. From clothes to shoes...And sometimes, she comes out with a boyish looking outfit. Like this morning. They wear uniforms, but she put the shorts on with a reading group t-shirt, which she's allowed to wear on Fri, with her little Jordans. The Jordans are fine with jeans, or the right girly liesure-time outfit. They're girly Jordans,(white with pink and gray), but they're high-tops, of course. So they look boyish with the wrong outfit, such as the uniform shorts and t-shirt today. So, that ws a battle, geting her out of those and in her damn Twinklen Toes,(2nd pair) that she just had to have 2wks ago. Now she don't like 'em. Well, forget that. That shits over. No more of that. I have shortened the rope, and we're not giving her so much liberty with her clothes. She's not old enough to make those judgements yet. She does good, but not good enough, yet. I had to make her take those damn high-tops off, and she learned what a compromise is this morning. She's wearing those twinkle toes she had to have. But it wasn't after she ripped one of the little pink rose charms off her right shoe out of anger. She was pissed, but mommy got very hot when I showed her that tore that charm off.
oh well...and next lesson. She's a good girl. A very good young lady. She just has her moments as everybody.

TweetI was talking about Fuzo's post by "that's good stuff"^^, but I agree with baby1's post 100%. You have to pick your battles carefully. Raising a child keeps getting more challenging, the older she gets. I don't want her to rebel. I've never been one to censor her from too much. They'll get things one way or the other. I never censored certain things on tv, but of course, I won't let her watch certain things. But, in giving her liberties, she can opperate the remote for the tv, (example), and she watches wholesome stuff mjority of the time. Never once does she watch the garbage that's on the music channels. So, giving her some rope has been a good thing, and already instilled a decent sense of responsibility, and has made for good choices on her own. She just needs more help with her outfits and choices of shoes still. And all the other stuff she is far from able to choose responsibly. Ultimately, I want a responsible young woman, well informed reasoning and logical thought process.

BUT HES A GREAT GUY WITH A HUGE HEART THAT HAS SOME TATS! I KNOW FUZO AND BABY1 WILL AND HAVE BEEN TEACHING BABY FUZO THE RIGHT THINGS AND SHE WILL BE A GREAT PERSON WHEN SHES OLDER. SHE JUST MIGHT HAVE A TAT OR 2 LIKE HER DAD!

MY DAUGHTER IS TALKING THE SAME THING. SHE WANTS ONE WHEN SHES 18...I THINK ITS JUST US ALL BEING PARENTS! OUR PARENTS DIDNT WANT US TO HAVE THEM EITHER!
