"He woke up because I kept punching him in the face." --Thiago Alves
"I'm telling you, once your car's been stolen, it never runs the same again. It's like a guy sleeping with your girl. He leaves his mark all over her."- Drama (Entourage)
TweetI want that as a big poster in my garage. I love that. Perfect statement. Rossi chillin with his mate. The M1. Grandest Yamaha of them all.
Jipped, your 2008 R6 is the 1st year of the 13S. That's the model of the bike. A 2011 is still a 13S. They usually don't run a model that long. Yamaha struck the iron just right with the 13S. Short story about it. The '06-'07 was the 2CO. The "guru" that's all Yamaha will refer to him as. They won't say his name. But the guru, the man that engineered, and built, Rossi's championship M1 saw the ss team working on the 2CO, and it grabbed his interest at the technology, and technique, that the team had into the 2CO. So, he couldn't restrain from diving in with them on their design of the 13S powerplant. The "guru" helped the Yamaha supersport team extensively on the engine. And then came the 13S. A work of art. Aesthetically, the engine, to the tunes coming from the engine.
Having owned the 2CO, and ridden earlier models. I can vouch for the 13S being a whole new beast. The Moto GP dude for Yamaha tamed the R6 in a way, while giving it more power than ever before. The powerband of earlier models was like a little YZ-80. Nothing and then, bam! But, the 80 is like tinker-bell, and the R6 was like The Hulk. So it was a wild pour-on of power before "the guru" took care of that.
TweetThanks guys. love the poster, its my wallpaper now O2.
Horsepwr, i rode my buddies rz350 back in the mid 80s its power all came on in a furious loud rush in the last 1000 rpm. it was fun to ride. alot lighter than my old GPZ
i have had the bike for a week and still havent ridden it. its all drizzling now, roads are wet. not the best time to get the feel for a new bike
Tweetyeah. It's the same weather here. Lookin like an all dayer. drizzling wet.
The powerband on the '08+ is spread out in a sloid strong pull. My '07 would just come alive from 10grand to shift light. (16.5K) The '08+ pulls off the bottom and starts pullin crazy fast for a good 8,000rpm. From 8K to 17K. Hell of a powerband, huh. It's fun.
