TweetGonna be crazy though if he does KO Couture
TweetMan does this guy have a wake up call coming!!He supposedly choked out Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion Muhammad ‘King Mo’ Lawal during a training session (with a guillotine or an RNC depending which version he tells you), but heavyweight boxer James Toney still says “all that jiu jitsu stuff is for girls”.
The former heavyweight boxing champion tells Fighters Only that he has no fear of being out-wrestled by Couture, nor is he fazed at the prospect of fighting a man who has held both the heavyweight and the light-heavyweight titles in the UFC.
“I don’t care if Randy Couture is a legend in this sport, I have had a career of knocking guys out in their back yards. Boxing is the superior science, we are the best. I am going to show that wrestling and hugging people is for women. That’s not going to happen against me. I have a lot of KO’s in my career and you will see another one on August 28th,” Toney told us.
Asked if the rumours about him submitting King Mo in one of their training sessions is true, Toney said it is. (Although the original version of the rumour had Toney submitting Lawal - a former Olympic wrestler - with a guillotine.)
“Yeah its true, I worked with King Mo. He was happy to come down and spar with me. He showed me some skills and I submitted him with a rear-naked choke. But you know that jiu jitsu, all the hugging… its for girls,” says Toney, who seemingly finds “hugging” another man to be the most alarming prospect of a fight with Couture.
Many fans are sceptical when it comes to Toney’s claims to have submitted Lawal but he doesn’t care, because he is planning a KO not a submission. And if he does win? Toney has repeatedly called for a fight with Brock Lesnar and he stands by his claims he can beat the former WWE star.
“Come on man. Lesnar is a former wrestler-actor [and he’s] now in the UFC. He runs with his head down. Yeah I want to fight him down the line. I’ll fight the lot of them - in one night if I have to!”

TweetThe funny thing is that most BJJ girls could probably tap him out fairly easy.

TweetLol, you aren't kidding...that would be funny.
I am looking for Randy to win though, and I think this guy is just trying to hype up the fight....or perhaps he is an idiot.

TweetHe should wear one mma glove and one boxing glove like that other guy did years ago lol
They call you paranoid until the worst happens, and in the aftermath they will call you a hero.
TweetI dont even want to see randy make a mockery of himself by fighting toney. I think its beneath randy and imo it makes randy look desperate and just wants money to fight toney who is a nobody in the mma world. Now toney and randy with a straight up boxing match it goes hands down to toney. But if toney connects randy might get knocked out. whats going to happen is randy taking down the over weight toney and gnp thats it. Boring fight.

TweetToney would beat Randy's ass with a straight up boxing match, if it was wrestling or grappling Randy would beat his ass.. but we have MMA with a mix of both so anything can happen.. TOney is calling Randy and BJJ out with the intentions of hoping Randy will try and show him that he can beat him at his own game but Randy is smarter then that

TweetToney is being used as an example here. There is no way that Randy will stand with Toney and there is no way that Toney can keep Randy from taking him down. It's so much different in the cage than in a ring. That will throw Toney off completely. It doesn't matter if Toney would win a boxing match or not....this is MMA. Toney has more to worry about than ducking and jiving. All Randy has to do is keep his hands up, use his head movement for about 30 seconds, and the fight will be on the ground with it ending in the first 4 minutes.
Let's not forget that Randy boxed in the military. I know it's not the same level as Toney, but the basic prinicples are the same.
Not to mention that Randy has been in some of the best shape of his life while Toney has been sitting home on his couch eating fritos, talking about how BJJ is for girls and making up all of these submissions that he has in his head.
IMO, Toney is CRAZY for taking this fight and it will do nothing but hurt boxing even more.
