Heres a article in one of the chicago papers. I find this video stupid I dont think anyone should be dancing at the gates of auschwitz. Even if that old man is a survivor I dont know if people really know the horrible act that went on at those places. My grandmother was a little girl when she was able to get out before this happen. So ofcourse I'm going to disagree with who ever made this video. I'm happy the old man made it but do something different to show that you survived

Dave do you know the history of what happen and 6 million jews killed and burned alive, why in the world would anyone dance at the doors of a place where people who were alive put in a room and burned alive. He belittles everyone by making a dance video just because he survived. This should be taken off the internet. Clearly this old man has dementia because any normal person wouldnt do anything like that

Thats interesting. The whole article was very interesting to read. the thing that I was thinking about when I watched that were those young kids and how much better their childhood life is now, than the old man had. And hopefully the old man doesnt think he is somehow better than the ones who died.He was just lucky enough to survive it. I was cracking up about the seinfeld episode where he gets caught making out in the theatre during Schindlers list..OMG
"Joy Sather-Wagstaff, a cultural anthropologist at North Dakota State University who studies behavior at commemorative memorial sites, notes that there is an ongoing cultural debate about what kind of behaviors are appropriate at sacred memorial sites, and that the behaviors deemed appropriate change over time.

"Even photography is an issue for Holocaust sites and other memorial places as appropriate behavior: should people take photos at a place of mass death?" Sather-Wagstaff said.

"Chanoch, the survivor featured in "Pizza At Auschwitz" said some viewers were disturbed at seeing him eat pizza while lying on a spot where skeleton-like prisoners once lay before being killed in gas chambers.

But he argues that in confronting tragedies like the Holocaust, "Every person is allowed to react individually -- one person cries, one person laughs. It's a way of dealing with it."

What's wrong with him celebrating in that way. Freedom of speech would allow that in the U.S. and who better to practice it than a survivor.

There are many things that go on which many of us detest, just as there are many things that some of us support and others detest. This is what is so great about the freedom of speech. Once that right is gone our country is gone, and the good of humanity along with it. We all have a right to voice our opinions on matters of interest, yet when we attempt to deny others the right to voice theirs merely because we disagree with them, we then become hypocrites and deserve whatever loss of liberty we receive.

Most always neglect the Germans that were killed at the hands of Stalin.
It is mazing how one group of people could be universally hated for 3000 years?

I have a friend who is a retired college professor. One of the smartest people I know. He is a super extreme evangelical christian. He is 100% certain that the Holocaust NEVER happened. He said the whole thing was fabricated by the jews to get sympathy so they could return to the holy land, which happened in 1948. I have argued with this man so many times about this until I finally got tired of it and now I dont even talk about it to him. I think he is nuts. I ask him "what about Anne Frank and all the eyewitnesses? What about the piles of bodies?" He actually said that those bodies were not just jews, but millions of starving Germans. How on earth does a seemingly intelligent person totally believe the holocasust was a hoax???? He has been interviewed on radio shows where he spewed this crap and ended up getting death threats from Jewish organizations. Sheesh. Where do people come up with this nonsense that the holocaust didnt happen?????????

I guess if someone had a family member almost get caught and go to these camps then you might have a different feeling about this video. Yeah I get the freedom of this and that but dont dance in front of doors that people were kiled and burned alive and shot to death. I think its in poor taste

I see where you are coming from Fuzo. I think its odd that even a survivor would choose to stage a display like that at a site of one of the world's worst tragedies. SO he survived - does that really make it OK for him to publicly mock a death camp by dancing at the gates? OK, we can express ourselves however we choose in our country . . . but even if everyone were free to say and do as they choose, does that make it right to do or say whatever you choose? I don't necessarily think so. it is in poor taste, and selfish to do what he did. Consider the seriousness of what happened there, and consider the ones who were not so lucky as him - nearly a million at each of these camps did not escape and died a humiliating and slow death at these very sites have some respect for the others, and their families, old man. This is classless. To steal a phrase from professional football (surprisingly appropriate I think): "act like you've been there." I'm not a fan of the dancing fool.

I have watched the video and do not see the harm in it. Different people react to situations differently. The man was there, he is a survivor, thus I see nothing wrong with him showing his excitement. But that is beside the point. It shouldn't matter what I think of the video. And for the record, I am very well aware of the Holocaust and WWII.

But what is more concerning is how fast most people are to completely ignore the freedom of speech to express oneself. This is why I have always contended that the two party system is a one party system in the bigger picture. Both parties want to sensor people's rights to best represent their beliefs. Then I hear people in general and people in the public eye quote some of the founding fathers and claim that they are constitutionalists but in reality have no understanding whatsoever as to what the founders believed in or what the constitution grants us for that matter. We have a president who is adamantly against the freedom of speech and here we have people complaining about it too. I don't mean to tick anyone off by the way, but I fear some are too sensitive on some issues to hear me out without getting offended or upset. I just wish people would learn what the Constitution is and what it provides for us. I keep the Constitution on my phone and I have a pocket sized paperback version I carried everywhere before that. I have read and read and read the Constitution and do so just about every day for one reason or another. It is not a difficult document to understand, and the 1st amendment is very clear. I don't agree or support a lot of things that people do or say but I respect their right to do it, just as I hope they will respect mine. If I don't like a video or speech I simply don't watch it, that's all it takes. We are asking to play with fire when asking for speech to be censored. By asking to have that video taken down would be no different than someone offended by this website asking for it to be taken down, or for a documentary on Obama such as the Obama Deception to be taken down. It is all the same. There are always going to be those who disagree with others but that is fine; permit it; accept it; tolerate it; but please don't threaten it. Try to think of it in this perspective. If conservatives could ban every video or website they didn't like, and liberals could ban everything they don't like, then we would be left with nothing but propaganda provided by the government. There are people on the left who want Fox News taken off the air and there are right wingers who want MSNBC taken off the air, but I am glad they are both on the air, I just don't watch MSNBC. This is the most sincere way I can convey my feeling on the matter and I hope I have not offended anyone. I respect each and every one of your views. I only hope to encourage more people to consider their views from a constitutional perspective.
Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master. George Washington

Let me get this right. You understand the freedom of speech but if its in poor taste it should not be permitted? And who is to determine what all is done in poor taste? What power indeed that person would have, to merely decide whatever he or she so chooses to be in poor taste and then censor it. Please don't take this as a form of mockery, I am simply conveying the unsaid insinuation of your own words.

The 1st amendment grants us the freedom of speech and expression. You are confusing morals with constitutional rights. What you may perceive as immoral does not make it unconstitutional.
