I want to say between $400 and $600. Depending on the model and barrel. Somewhere around a $500 bill.

Tweetyep- $400-600, a lady I work with owns one and loves it, but it does have a big handle and the range is very short. She shot the neighbors dog with a 410 shell in the back yared and didn't even come close to killing it

TweetYou can also load it with .45 long colt. That'll take down any rabid dog lol. The 410 is more for killin snakes. You could use a 410 slug for defense though

TweetS&W 500 is the most powerful production revolver. It's not real fun to shoot though. But if you are wanting to kill a buffalo with a handgun it's the way to go lol.

TweetI don't know if you're just wanting a very powerful handgun just to simply have it for fun, or if you want it to serve the practical purpose of self defense as well. Then you should consider follow up shots, how quickly you can place your shots. It's all about shot placement with a pistol. You do have that hydrostatic-shock factor with higher energy/velocity, but shot placement is everything with any pistol. cept for the buffalo pistol rc10's talkin about. It sounds like it might produce some serious hydrostatic shock. Hit your assailant in the arm and knock him unconscious.lol
