How much does outside conditions affect your metabolism? For instance, I work in a telephone room that has to stay at like 65 degrees all of the time. We usually have to wear out jackets while we are in there. Can this affect my metabolism making it slower?

The reason I ask is because I have been reading an article that states if your body temp is at 96.5 or lower, then chances are your metabolism is shot and you need to up your calories to get it kicked back in. My readings have so far been 96.6 consistently in the mornings and only as high as 97.2 in the evening.

Not sure about this one and I have never read about it. I do know that if you eat spicy stuff like jalapeno peppers, it raises your metabolism.

I will try to find the article. I am usually a VERY hot natured person and this is what has confused me about my temp readings. Also, I guess it could also be attributed to eating less and not going to the gym because of my sciatic problem, correct?

being in a cool room i don't think can really effect you to much i mean don't where your jacket and it will actually raise it as your body will be trying to keep it's self warm which burns small amount of calories it's just the same as when the body is trying to cool it's self in warm conditions. I like spicy foods and they help for sure. Up your spice man.

I also read somewhere that you should drink your water ice cold beacuse your body the works harder to warm up, or something like that.
