TweetWow! I had no idea. The car looks like a beast and like you said, beautiful car...horrible acceleration and sloppy handling for 38K. So many other cars in that price range that are way more bang for your buck.
TweetSo I had an assignment today to mystery shop at a Dodge/Chrysler dealership and I chose to drive the Challenger RT. Beautiful looking car but slow as molasses! I drove a manual version and that thing had a sloppy transmission, horrible acceleration and sloppy handling. Honestly my Lincoln has more pickup than that thing did. My GT would have tore that thing apart.
Unbelievable they wanted $38k for a car that slow.

TweetExactly. I was quite let down. Ever since I saw the pre-design pics I've always wanted to try one of these bad boys. I was quite disappointed now. Dodge is going to be in serious trouble now that the 2011 GT is going to be a 5.0 with over 400hp! Some have already been dyno'd at 400 at the wheels! Ford is finally going to take the reigns in the muscle car market.
Tweetsmoked one in my cummins the other night...kid was pretty damn embarassed
TweetThat's awesome! What do you have done to your Ram? I'm assuming a tuner since you can gain LOADS of power with one on those beasts.
I raced a Challenger when I first bought my Lincoln and did a few mods to it. I kept revving at the guy but he wouldn't rev back or nothing (he looked maybe 60). So I just assumed he wasn't going to bite. Light turned green and his tires chirped so I put it to the floor. He had a little more momentum since he got the jump and I didn't know he was racing. By 70-80mph I just nosed him out and after that we both shut down.
I tried to give him a thumbs up but he wouldn't even look at me after that. I just assumed it was because he couldn't drive, but after driving one I now know it's simply because they aren't fast.
The SRT8 Challenger however...well that is a different story
TweetI test drove one here and this car had friggin so much balls and pick up I was very impressed. dj did the salesman let you get on that car man like open it up or did he just say be careful becusae the guy I had said drop the hammer man and this car took off on me.maybe you had a different size engine or something

Tweetyou suprised? and you knew it was a dodge? huh....funny. lol.
when i went to work fo rthat dodge dealer for 15mins, they wanted me to get to know the product, so they had me take the same car you did for a ride...the GSM was a biz friend of mine, we worked together at a ford dealer a few yrs previous. when i came back, i was walking through the show room with the keys and jeff (gsm) says, "what'd ya think?", big ol' smile on his face and shyt.. and in front of all the customers, i toss him the keys and say, "pfft...i'll stick with the mustang gt!!, things a dog!!" lol...he stood there, smile faded a little, and just shook his head, lol. "sorry bro"...lol

I LOVE BOOBOOKITTY...
TweetI beat on every car I test drive. I've always said if I beat the car and it stumbles, I'm not buying it.
That being said I floored it from both a roll and from a dead stop. Literally pedal to the floor, and shifting as fast as I could. Keep in mind Fuzo this was the middle level Challenger with the 5.7L Hemi not the 6.1L SRT8 model. The SRT8 model probably would have been much faster, but after test driving that turd I'm not too confident
HAHAHA! NICE! I wish I would've been there to see it
Tweetraced one at the 1/8th mile track he had bolt ons and nitrous. i beat him with straight motor by several 1/10s.
they srt version is much faster but still handles like a brick on a rollerskate
the new mustang is a monster.
other than dodge trucks i wouldnt own one. chrysler products just havent gotten better like ford or GM. ford IMO makes top notch cars and trucks (and i am a GM guy)
TweetI hear ya. I used to be a GM Devotee...I had an Iroc Z camaro, Beretta, V8 Cutlass, 04 Silverado etc. I had tons of GM's. They were just better in those years. The new GM's just can't compete with Ford, and Chrysler is pretty much lagging FAR behind.
Pontiac was the only GM brand that was beginning to look real good, they had the G8 which was really nice, and the GTO was nice.
I love that "brick on a rollerskate" comment referring to the Challenger. That's exactly how it felt.
I'm not surprised you took down the Challenger. I got dusted by a GTO in my 03 GT. I had a ton done to it, but that GTO (6.0 version) just walked all over me. They were beasts!
Tweetalright i gotta ask, how much does a mystery shooper make
it kind of sounds like fun
TweetPeanuts...although, It all depends on the shop. I did two that day, one for Best Buy and one for Chrysler. Best Buy paid me $10 & Chrysler $15. It took me 3 hours to do both so less than $10 an hour that time plus gas wasn't reimbursed. I set them up to do when I will be in that area so it's not like I'm paying for the gas because I'm in that area anyway.
Sometimes you get a restaurant where they reimburse up to $30 plus pay you for the shop. Like I said it's all a matter of what's available. Some shops have you buy a gift card, reimburse you for the gift card and then pay you for the shop as well.
In my mind I was always curious what the Challenger drove like so I jumped on that one. I figured since I wanted to try one anyway, why not get paid.
Tweetbtw, it is fun...minus trying to get out of the dealership after test driving was a pita...
Tweetnot a bad gig, since you're a stickler for details i can see the attraction
TweetIVE ALWAYS HATED THE DODGE/ CHRYSLER LINE UP...TOO BIG AND CLUNKY. THEY NEED TO FIRE THEIR DESIGNER!
