I tried googling it but I can't seem to find the right websites.

Anyone any idea how these things are called or where I can get 'm?

I had a friend who went way up into the rocky mountains and buried huge plastic containers of food, tents, cooking gear, jackets, sleeping bags, etc. He would return on horseback every summer to this spot. It was almost above timberline. I freaked out when we jumped off our horses and started digging this stuff up
