TweetI have two questions.
1. Why do they assume it will last at least a year, and suspect it will last more than 1 year? Khalid already asked to plead guity while at Gitmo and asked for the death penalty, thus it should not be too difficult to get a guilty verdict. Or is it because this trial will be concerned with ridiculing the Bush administration instead of seeking justice for the 911 terror attack.
2. Why are they offering $200 million to whatever city holds the trial? NYC is the city that estimated this cost due to the size of the city and the fact that there will be over 2,000 check points the entire time the trial is going on. However, if a different city holds the trial the cost would obviously not be as high as NYC.
It baffles my mind how our government is so willing to throw around this kind of money like it is chump change. Holding the trial at Gitmo would not cost near this much. This is ridiculous, plain and simple.
