I cook a weeks worth of food on Sunday but some weeks I don't stay on schedule completely (I forget to take a couple meals with me if I'm going to be out for a while; I completely forget to take the days worth to work; I'll go to lunch with friends, etc.) and am just wondering how long the meat is good for? So how long do you guys keep your meat if you prepare a weeks worth and don't get it all down within that week?

If you don't prepare your meat for the week. If you cooked a burger or chicken today and put it in the fridge would you eat it 2 weeks from now? a weeks and 5 days? A week and 2 days?

probobly somewhere around that 7 to 9 day mark. it depends...like, we had porkchops that i thaught i made on sat....well it was thur...my wife informed me that i made them the previous sat. so..i went 11 days. typicaly i wouldnt have eat them, but i did and nothing happened. so i'm pretty sure you can get 11 or 12 days out of porkchops, lol...i would assume beef too. i dont know about chicken

I think cooked meat would only be good for about 4 days in the fridge, that is how long I will keep it for. If you cook in bulk, you would be better off freezing it and taking it out as need.

Also, if it has a smell than it is not good anymore.

11 days!!! Sweet!! I've only been up to 8 days with beef, I'm more hesitant with chicken - well just because it tastes like $hit even when it's not bad...

3-4 days!! Usually what I will do is if I don't think I'll have a chance to cook again after 3 days, when I cook the weeks worth, I'll keep a few days worth in the frig, and the rest I portion out, put in zip lock freezer bags and throw it in the freezer, very easy to heat in the micro that way! And I won't be wasting my food, I get tired of spending so freaking much $ on food every week!! But I will freeze it and have used it up to2 weeks later and its fine.

Well IPL and think a like. If I don't think I'll eat the meat that I prepare, I would freeze it in a ziploc. Now that E and are together, nothing last very long in our fridge. LOL

It depends, a little, on the type of meat. Well done red meat. I would throw it out after 5-6 days.
      Seafood-24hrs
Chicken & Turkey- right about that 4-5day mark too.
Ham will keep longer because of the sodium. It's good for a good week, maybe 8-9 days.

Seasoned meat will keep a couple days longer than plain meat too.

You usually got about a week max on meats. I don't like to mess around with the possibility of bacteria. That's one of my bugaboos.
