Harleys have came along way since their earlier days. You don't have to be a mechanic to own one anymore. They've been dependable for a good decade now, and only gotten better. All they done is used everyday engine technology, like fuel injection, water cooling, etc...decent bikes now.
I just get a kick out of all the "bikers" now.
More bikes on the road is a great thing though. No matter what.

good luck...you'll have more sucess trying to convince some people that ford is just as good, IF NOT BETTER, than toyota. (not refering to you james, just in general). they (people) push the whole "american bikes" thing up here and it meets with plenty of critiques

You'll have to be careful at first. You'll be over-shooting turns, they're so heavy. I almost did that on my mother's '08 Street Glide just on a quick little test ride. Big-ole 700-800lb thing. About what that probably weighs. It takes allot further to slow those down. They come equipped with Brembo brakes now, which helps. some.

yeah, if I'm throwin down for a cruiser. I don't want 59thousand of the same bike as mine ridin around. I'm going custom.
Cause that's all it's for in the first place. Not calling every Harley rider out for it, cause hey, we're all riders, but most of 'em are just trying to look the part. Fit in. Be part of the new wave "bikers". Spend all that money to look good. I spend a fraction of that and I make the bike look good.
One wheel in the air, and a knee down at the corner.

Ya know, I used to dig that flat piston slap V-twin sound, but now it just sounds so blatty to me. I get so sick of hearing 'em around town. BLATTTBLLATT BLAT BLAT BLAT!!!! while they're backin out,lol...
What a smooth tune of an inline four screamin at 16k though. That is raw. And it ain't often you hear someone that'll really let the horses run on a sportbike and let it sing those high notes, but when they do...you can hear it for miles it seems. Like an F1 rippin through town.
Every joker that calls himself a biker has a hog down here. You'd have to be on the coast in this (all the time) ridin weather. They're fukin everywhere. And most of the dudes that get off them in their vests with no shirt just do 'em no justice.
I've realized, after me and my brother grew up absolutely loving when a group of real bikers came down the street, that it's what has become of the Harley that's made me almost wanna cringe at the sound of one. It's the whole thing and all the attributes of the new "bikers". plah...

      sweet ass bike though bro,lol...really
