Carwin comments on Brock

Our Twitter buddy Shane Carwin let some of his true feelings about Brock Lesnar be known after last night's showing at UFC 100. While "Darwin" Carwin had been trying to play things pretty close to the vest about potential future heavyweight match-ups, it seems like Lesnar's complete lack of respect for everyone within the range of his vision during last night's main event rubbed him the wrong way. He went into greater detail on his website:
The flipping off of the fans that just lined your pocket with millions of dollars is just LAME. He may be a Champion but he has a long ways to go before he earns the respect of a Champion. The fans are why we do this Brock, this sport is not about fat paychecks and drama it is about hard work and sacrifice for a shot to do what you did last night. It doesn't matter how much money you make if you can't earn your peers respect and the respect and love of the greatest sporting fans in the world. We have no scripts in this sport, no pre-determined earning amount and no pre-determined outcomes. It doesn't matter if you win or loose it matters how you win or loose.
Every autograph I give, every hand I shake I am thankful that you give me the opportunity to be a part of your world. This is the greatest sport int he world and most of the athletes in it deserve the love and respect they get and some just dont get it.
From leaving the venue all the way to the Airport I have had fans of the sport ask me to take out Brock Lesnar for them. The thing is I have a very tough fight ahead of me that IMO is every bit as tough and talented as Brock. Cain is no joke and he may have had a tough fight against Kongo but I got rocked against Gonzaga. Fact is we are at the top of the HWT division and anyone we fight moving forward is going to be a real test. Cain is nothing short of a super athlete with amazing wrestling and he trains with one of the best camps in the country. I am sure Joe Silva told Cain the same thing he told us, winner gets the title shot. Cain is not looking past me he is looking right at me as the person that is in his way from potentially one of the greatest opportunities of his life and mine.
Wow, apparently you can be a top UFC heavyweight while still being a humble, down-to-earth guy. Who knew?

What's interesting about the challenge Carwin could offer Lesnar is that he's someone who is just as big, just as strong, and just as athletic, while also having the same basic skill-set as a wrestler who hits hard. In other words, he could be the perfect test to determine whether Lesnar is really winning based purely on genetics and wrestling ability, or whether it's something more.

But, as Carwin points out, he's still got to get past Cain Velazquez, who he seems to have genuine respect for as a fellow fighter. How 'bout that?

It looks like Carwin's feathers got ruffled.

Tweethe brings up a valid point that i have been trying to say.. carwin vs lesnar would be a fight for the ages... and if the winner faced fedor.. then they can honestly say that they are the greatest heavyweight MMA fighter in the world... period

Carwin has much more KO power than Brock does though and we haven't really had a chance to see what kind of chin Brock has. I want to see how Brock reacts when he gets into trouble.

Velasquez weighs about the same as Mir and is 1" shorter. So he is not that small. But his wrestling is outstanding and he also has more KO power than Lesnar. I just haven't seen that Lesnar has that KO power yet. I mean he hits hard, but not KO hard.

But we will see. There are too many fights that have to happen first

Hey tn94z how does one know this. brocks had only 5 fights.he knocked hearing down with a straight shot he knocked randy down with a shot,he knocked out MIR on the ground I mean cmon brock has alot of power but to determine carwin has more is abit over board dont ya think.hearings face and mirs face were f-up.I just think you really hate brock.he's the champ and has proven himself and will only get better

TweetCarwin has been KO'n people left and right. Brock has yet to KO anyone. A TKO is not a KO.

Here is my thinking. Brock hits very very hard but his hands are so big that the brunt force is spread out over a large area. The guys with the same power and smaller hands have all of their force in a much smaller area. This power dispersion across a large area allows the fighters to take a much harder punch because it is not focused on the "button" as it would be with a smaller hand. He does a lot of damage with those big hands but I think it hurts him in the KO category.

As far as damage, that doesn't show anything. BJ has made a mess of fighters' faces before, does that mean he has the same KO power that Brock does?

He had a TON of chances to KO Herring but didn't. i mean herring was a sitting duck that whole fight because he couldn't see out of one of his eyes. That may be his strategy you are right, but until he KO's someone, you can't say that he possesses that power. I never saw Mir go out. I am talking standip up KO power. You know...like Henderson
