CENTRAL OHIO—When you lose your job, one of the biggest things you worry about is health care.
Walgreens recently rolled out a program that offers free health-care services at its Walgreens clinics.
Here are the details:
- You must have lost your job on or after Tuesday, March 31, 2009, of this year and have no health insurance.
- This program will cover the treatment of colds, strep throat, allergies and skin conditions. It won’t cover vaccinations, physicals or health evaluations.
Keep in mind Walmart, CVS pharmacy and other retailers have similar clinics that provide nonemergency services to patients, regardless of insurance status.

Here are some other ways you can get free help if you’re unemployed.
If you don’t have a college degree or you’ve been out of work for a long time, your local Goodwill organization also is a good resource. Goodwill organizations train people for jobs in its own industry, health care, retail, banking, even landscaping.
