ok...i dont use a belt. nearly ever. deadlifts, squats (havnt done in awhile), rearly ever. this weekend i've noticed my sides are looking a little thick. it's past the "fat" or "spare tire" thing...it's more like the obliques are possibly being over stimulated into growth. could this be from not using a belt? i do not do sit ups (havnt in 3 years or so). i pull from mid shin level on deads and always do 4-8 reps depending on weight. currently do 5 sets working up to max set of 4@ 395 (my last workout)....could not using a belt be a prob? my lower back never hurts. i do standing laterals, standing dumbell presses/military presses, overhead extentions...ect. what do you guys think?

I wouldn't think it would be from not using a belt. I don't use a belt either- I feel it gives a false sense of security!

LOL..you fuc**ers are too much...I dont think it is overdevelopment...honestly, the very last place on the male body to hang on to fat is the oblique area. The love handles are the LAST thing to go. It is the #1 question I get asked in the gym. "How can I get rid of my love handles" My response is "You gotta get your BF% to single digits and they will be gone!!!!"...Have seen lots of guys with a six pack and still have love handles.

I'd try raising start and finish of the dead lifts a little more (you said you do them from mid-shin), they can definitely make my waist thicker.
