      Ask the Pro
      by Roc Shabazz

Water – as nature’s most basic element, it is an important part of your health. Here are the answers to the most common questions about water.

      Q. How much water should I drink daily?
      A. Shoot for a least a gallon a day. Water is required f or all of your body’s functions. It also revs up your metabolism and mobilizes fat stores. You need to be properly hydrated to train hard.

      Q. What if I don’t drink as much water as I should?
      A. Your strength and energy level is affected by even slight dehydration. As little as202% dehydration—which you won’t even notice—can really drain your strength and affect your training.

      Q. Won’t all that water make my body retain water?
      A. No, in fact it can have the opposite affect. When your body senses that it isn’t getting enough water, it can decide to hold on to the water that it already has, making you retain water. By drinking extra water you are signaling your body that it is OK to let go of any extra fluid.

      Q. Why do you insist on spring water?
      A. Would you put cheap oil in a Ferrari? No, you’d put in the finest grade of oil you could find. It’s the same with water. You are trying to transform your body into a finely tuned machine so don’t put the questionable quality of tap water into the mix.

The quality of water from the tap fluctuates and has been known to contain extra metals, micro-organisms, and even antibiotics. Even the best of filters may not be able to take it all out. On an average day, these levels may be acceptable to the average person but on some days it may=2 0not. Spring water from a reputable source is the best water for your body.

I know this may be a dumb question, but what exactly do you mean "springwater?" Is that bottled water?

Where is Waterboy... he could clarify this one for us.

"Spring Water" use to be water taken from an underground spring that flows naturally to earth's surface. If the firm isn't reputable, then it could come from anywhere.

Bottled water from an artesian well is from an artesian well. This is basically a well that is drilled down past a certain level in the aquifer. Artesian waters have no special chemicals or medicinal qualities.

Now that is a very good question... we will have to ask waterboy. I'm sure he knows the real scoop on some of those water companies.

I would think Sam's is just as good as any other...

OK I found this thread. Let's see if I can help.

A few years ago the International bottled Water Association (IBWA) set standards for certain types of waters.
The standards also fall inline with the FDA requirements for food products.
Spring water is water that comes to the surface from an underground spring. But for purity, almost all spings are now drilled into toprotect the source from many types of contamination.
The bottler we use has several springs on their property and all are protected sources. The water is brought into the bottling facility, run through a particulate filter to remove any suspended particles. Itis then held n storage tanks that have Ozone bubbling through them. Ozone is used to kill any microscopic bacteria that may be present. It is then run throught a Ultraviolet light to further sterilize the water.
All the bottles are first inspected by sight and smell for any problems. Then they proceed to a bottle washer that is in a pressurized room. The wshing solution is monitered so it will always be at a certain strenght. The bottles are then rinsed and then proceed to be sanitized before filling. The caps are also sterilized before bring placed on the bottles.
As far as Sam's Chioce water, it is a filtered municipal water. We have a bottler here in Wilson that bottles for Sam's Club. So probally most of the water for Sam's is a municipal water. If you remember, Aquafina and Dasani both reveled their sources for the initial water as municipal water sources.
There is nothing wrong with this, it just has to be on the label as to what type of water it is.
Le Bleu, which comes from Alamance county in NC is from a municipal source. It is just run through several process, particulate filter, carbon filtration, steam distillation, then carbon filtration again to polish the taste.
The weater we use is a pure natural spring water. I have not drank anything other than this for 20 years. And yes, there is a difference in taste from different waters.
All bottlers fall under the guide lines for safe food handling practices as outlined by the FDA. It is considered a food product. All bottling facilities are, or should be, inspected by the FDA,EPA, Dept. of Agriculture, alond with their local and state health depts.
We as a distributor are inspected by our Dept of Ag on a yearly basis.
Since 9/11, Dept of Homeland Security
has implemented certain requirements and precautions for all bottlers.
I will have a post on here tomorrow answering some more questions about the amount of daily water intake and how it affects your body.

Hope this has helped. Please feel free to ask any question(s) you may have. If I can't answer it then,I will research it and get an answer for you.

In your statement, you keep referring to "we." I fairly new here so I haven't caught up on everyone yet. Who is "we?" What spring water are you referring to?

      Thanks Waterboy... very good info.

I was spoiled. I grew up in a very rural town in Georgia. We had artesian well water from a huge spring that company who drilled it said was probably the size of a lake. They had to drill through 500 ft of rock to get to it. My grandparents house was connected to the well and if they were using water, we could never tell. It tasted good that I still can't drink regular tap water especially city. It just doesn't taste the same. My parents still own the house, but they rent it out. They still go back and fill up jugs of water for their own use. It's all the drink.

That's what I was looking for. I hope my "we" post didn't sound like a smart ass. I was just curious about what company it was and if I could get that water here.
