My new stator/generator cover arrived yesterday. That's the engine cover on the left side. I got a new gasket as well, of coarse. My question; Would you use rtv?
Also, have you replaced an engine cover before?

I'm gonna use a little rtv. I'm waiting on the screws that hold the stator assembly to the cover now because I had to drill them out. Little job became a quick pain in the ass. The factory put some serious loc-tite on those bastards. And the screws are such soft metal. oh well, hopefullly they'll be in today or tomorrow.

Did it look like the factory used any sealant on the gasket when you took off the old cover?

I think I used a little bit of RTV on the last stator cover I replaced on a GSXR. Can't hurt, ya know?

yep, that's what made my decision. The gasket is metal, so that isn't gasket that you have to clean off. The factory used a little rtv as well.

      and thanks for the input
