Tweetmore pain....keeps getting better and better
Tweetokay, so we pick up our granite bathroom counter top today (remember...we're redoing the bathroom. SLATE floor...dave's foot, my doctoring, ya caught up yet?) and the place lets us borrow an "A" frame and locks it down for us on the truck. It's raining and our biggest concern was it was gonna fall off the truck (the granite guy estimated it at about 475-500lbs). Well we made it home, waited for our son and his friends to come over and help unload this bulky thing and place in the bathroom. Well it's still raining and cold and this thing weighs a ton. Now we don't have the strongest boys in the world but they knew not to drop it. Everything was going great.....got it out of the truck, onto the porch, into the house. AMEN! Took a bit of a break and brought the countertop into the bathroom. Took a break and figured out the game plan. After all was set, they picked it up......eased it on in the space......oh but wait, it was off a bit going in the space and lo and behold it was ****eyed and they tried to pull it out and straighten it and then..........."CRACK" it breaks and the sink (that was already mounted on the countertop) falls....good thing that didn't bust. But my $1200.00 piece of granite countertop did! Oh joy! Just another example of our run of luck lately!

TweetSorry to hear that your granite top cracked.
I learned a lonng time ago if it seems simple to do a remodeling profject, chances are it will go wrong somewhere. Since then, I design the project. prep the area and purchase the goods. BUT, I choose someone that is proficient in that specifed type of work to perfom the job.

TweetOH Phuck!!! That sucks....
TweetWell we dropped the pieces off today and they are going to make three pieces so there will be two seams instead of one. It should look okay. The said they could seal where it broke but it would be noticable because alot of little pieces broke off onto the floor. It should be done by Wednesday so that's not bad. They are only charging 250.00 to fix....

Tweetdid you check to see what they would charge to install??
Tweetno...probobly should've, but it'll be 2 seperate pieces instead of one. it was 1 BIG ASS piece before. they said it was one of the most akward pieces they've cut. he wouldnt have wanted to install it.
it was half octagon shape w/ a 5 ft straight piece coming off. the 5ft piece is gonna be seperate now....it never did HAVE to be one piece, i just thaught it'd be cooler than hell if it was! (so did they)

TweetAre you gonna seal it? It'll fade, or dull, over time. pretty fast actually. You will notice a difference in color in just a few months. for example, the items that are positioned on it that pretty much remain in the same spot. When moved, you'll see the contrast in colors from where it still looks new where things sit. Or, like I told my in-laws that didn't seal theirs, just don't re-arrange the flour and sugar containers, and all.
I'm glad to hear the big crash wasn't so terrible after all.
TweetJust so I'm the first to say this-----
Tweetwait!!! even if it's finnished!! what do you mean, "seal"? i've never heard of that. this is 1 1/2 inch granit!! polished and shyt...IT FUKIN FADES????
