TweetI know, that's what I just said to the wife, it hasn't even been near a year!
and no deepsouth. No DLP for me neither. It is LCD. They both use the same type lamps though. Something isn't right with this thing damnit.
Tweetman thats strange- LCD usually last a long time. What name brand?
TweetHitachi Ultravision 55". one of the top names. It had the best picture of the comparable bunch.
Tweetahhg! I coulda had it here today if I would've ordered by 4pm yesterday. And apparently this model TV is known for going thru lamps because of inadequate cooling after shut off. I always hear the fan running when I shut it off. I guess it doesn't run long enough. that sucks. When this happened last time, I told my wife that we need to go ahead and get a spare for next time. Who would've thought 'next time' wouldn't even be a year. I tell ya what I need to do. I need to pull the bulb and see if that little non-English speaking man used the OEM part, or if he went cheap on me. I'm betting on the latter simply because of the durability. I just read up, and Hitachi uses a Phillips lamp. I need to learn up a little more though. can't just believe the first thing I read.
TweetCan you get a better fan? I found out the hard way about our computers. I hav e3noissues with emachines but I found out they use a very very cheap power source and when it goes, not if but when, it typically takes the mother board with it. We found this out on my wife's new computer. So, I immediately took mine in and had them run tests and got a new power supply. So, I wonder if you can get a better fan or an additional fan to cool it down better. I bet if you called around to some TV geeks, they will have some kind of thing you can do to prevent that.
Tweetwow...i havnt had any prob's with my lcd...i got the sony

Tweetyes, I know, I know, neither has anyone else but me. and it looks like almost every other tv on the market uses the same bulb too, so it's definitely the model tv like the guy said.
TweetI've had my Samsung for 3yrs without a problem. I also bught the 5yr in home service plan- anything happens- theycome to the house and fix it, if they can't , they replace it in like kind or better
TweetThe in home service was nice while it lasted. I even got to use it, but it ran out in April.
$130 sure is a pricy light bulb.
TweetWOW- hang in there Bro- I read an articla the other day that said the price of 32" LCD was coming down to $300-400(below what it cost to make them) to try and boost sales this holiday season
TweetI noticed they've gotten alot cheaper just over the past few years.
The new lamp will be in by Wed. I'm gonna go ahead and get another one on the way soon. If I can get as long as I got out of the first one, then that's not too bad. The bulbs are rated for 6000hrs. I remember the guy telling me that before, and I just read it when I purchased this new one. There's no way we got 6000 hours out of the last one. That's 250 full days. We would be reaching even if we would've left the tv on non-stop since the last bulb was put in because it's been about 8 months like dave said.
