I try to avoid pain medication but I would like to know which ones have the least impact on gaining mass. From what's I've read opiates are probably the best but then you have to watch addiction.

I had a gym acquaintance who would take an opiate and workout, while on cycle so he could push it more. Year later, he od'd and almost died because of his opiate use.

been on a lot of pain meds lately due to an accident. the meds really made my estrogen levels go threw the roof. luckily i was almost to the end of my cycle. I didn't think the two were working well together at all!

      Good question but complex.
Most competative bodybuilders use prescription pain meds (opiads) to help them push themselves to complete muscle failure without feeling the lactic acid burn that will often make us stop a set before failure. This obviously comes with drawbacks... addiction AND most pain meds have acetominafin (tylenol) in the pain pill which we all know is not liver friendly so watching your liver enzymes would be a must if you go this route.

OTC anti inflamitories. There have been several studies on ibuprofen (motrin) and other non steroidal anti inflamitories having a negative effect on muscle growth, protein synthesis and nitrogen retention. I do think these studies have merit but I will take a few ibuprofen if I'm aching although I try to avoid it if possible.

I have never mixed the two. I would think it would really depend on exactly what meds we are discussing

I don't know too much about it and may have to talk to my doctor about using them while cycling Test E/Deca.

A few weeks ago, I was working one night and when I got home the next morning, my back was killing me. So I took some pain killers and tried to sleep it off. But that night when I had gone to work again, I went to use the men's room and noticed blood in my urine. It scared me $hitless. I've noticed that it only happens when I use prescription meds.

finished my last cycle with vicodin the last three weeks of the cycle. no real issue as far as the workout except the body's ability to utilize oxygen efficiently. opiates affect your 0xygen uptake and cardio etc are a chore. the best, although i hate to use the word best, to use while on cycle for pain would obviously be nubaine but good luck finding it anywhere. it has a built in agonist/antiagonist (know i probably termed that wrong) mechanism making it almost impossible to OD and it is a functional high, you can still train deep into the pain zone and it doesn't affect your 02 stats. injecting IM produces mild pain relief, injecting IV makes the drug act quicker and gives the user more of a high. i use vicodin due to a chronic bad right delt and a chronic case of tennis elbow in left elbow.

pain meds seemed to affect my training negatively years back. as well as can effect your life and health extremely negatively if abused. Anyone playing with opiates, please be careful. They can and will take hold of your ass. but, like has been said, you gotta do what you gotta do to get thru some things. I would hate to see anyone become a slave to opiates for the fun of it. That's no way to live. It's a form of hell. But if ya gotta have 'em, ya gotta have 'em.

It's not difficult to see if you've gone to far with them either. Just try to do without them for 3 days. If you get sick as hell, like the worst kind of flu you could imagine times 10, then you'll know where you're at.

Are we talking about taking pain meds for a few dayd cause your hurting or taking them daily for workouts? 2 vastly different things. 3 days of opiates aren't gonna do shit to negate growth and prob. not 3 weeks worth. Now long term could be a different story.

could point! Only thing I ever used was Motrin as an anti- imflamatory. I did all my damage on Tren-A
