You state the truth here. The average American doesn't really know what is going on here. In fact, I have come across people who have some strong opinions about the candidates and they are not even registered to vote.

Rasmussen Tracking O:51(-1) M:45(+1) Obama +6 (2 pt gain by McCain)
Zogby/CSPAN O:47(-1) M:45(+0) Obama +2 (1 pt gain by McCain)
Hotline/FD Tracking O:45(-1) M:44(+0) Obama +1 (1 pt gain by McCain)

So on average Obama fell 1pt and McCain picked up almost a 1pt (0.75). The gap closed by almost 2pts.
If you average the 4 polls it would be O:48 M:45. Also remember that is an average of 7% undecided. Higher undecided helps McCain.

O:49 M:47 would actually be a worse poll in my opinion. I think undecideds will break towards McCain (flight to safety) so a high undecided actually is masking +2 or +3 gain for McCain. Remember anything within +3 is essentially a tie due to the MOE.

The average of the polls puts Obama lead at only +3 today, compared to +5 yesterday.
McCain cut gap almost in half in one day. Even better news is the gap has closed from a peak of +7 average 2 days ago to +3 today.

McCain is a Pragmatist ideologue. He believes in duty to country and he believes selflessness is of high value (both Marxist qualities). He supports capitalist positions sometimes and government intervention at others; so he does what he feels will work. I believe he operates under the notion of the "common good" but he still believes that freedom is a variable for the "common good". So he has some fundamental conflicting ideas but most recent presidents have been pragmatists.

Obama on the other hand is not a pragmatist.
Obama is a Marxist ideologue. First there is nothing but circumstantial evidence to conclude this but there is so much of it I think it is safe to conclude he is a Marxist or has extreme Marxist tendencies at the very least.

Where McCain supports some statism. Obama rejects the idea of individualism.

Presidents dictate agendas and national debates. With Obama as president and most of the media in his pocket you will see an American psychological shift towards Marxism and partisanship will get even sharper and we will have graduated from a national philosophy of a pragmatic democracy to a more communal philosophy of socialism and/or communism.

...but what do you expect when a those in a society that oppose "socialism" support at least some socialist ideals.
