Let's be realistic here. Americans have so many things that we believe we HAVE to have. Just think if we did without them how much we would save a month. Here are just a few, in my opinion, that we could do without. Cell phones, especially for kids, video games, cable, ipods, liquor, cigarettes, and there are many more. People keep whining that they have no money. They can't buy groceries or can barely pay for gas, but they ALWAYS have money for other things that are really not necessities. Priorities are definitely screwed up in this day and age. I could personally due without a tv or an i-pod and if i can help it, I will not get my daughter a cell phone, and if we do, there will be restrictions on its use.
