McCain voted against Dick Chenney's energy bill which was considered the bill that gave goodies to the oil company. Obama voted for it.

BHO voted with the Democratic party 97% of the time. That's not change...that's more of the same except it's on the left!!

Senator McCain's real voting record (hint: It's not 90% conservative)

And here is a chart showing the other Centrists in the Senate and how he compares to them:

Actually, the 90 percent figure came from this https://www.cqpolitics.com/cq-assets/...udy/index.html

Default Re: MCCAIN NOT LIKE BUSH

It measures support for the Bush administration over 7 1/2 years. McCain is in the middle of Republicans, and is not by far the most supportive of Bush. In fact, Obama even supported Bush 40 percent of the time...and that's in just 3 1/2 years. Considering the number of key votes he's missed, I'd say that number is pretty telling. Also, for some perspective, the most conservative Dem supported Bush over 70 percent of the time.

Where has he differed from Bush? McCain didn't agree with Bush on the use of torture when interrogating POWs and he also pushed hard for the troop surge while Bush was initially against it...obviously, Bush eventually caved. Also, McCain has expressed displeasure with how large the federal government has become under the Bush administration. McCain also was heavily against a federal ban on same-sex marriage. There's more but that's all I've got for now...

EDIT: 3 1/2 years of Obama's career in Senate are measured...and he's essentially missed the last year while campaigning.

      1. Mac has never voted for an earmark and will veto everyone you can take that to the bank (this is not just a slogan).
      2. Mac has crossed the isle and really worked with Dems and Inds to get bills passed easy to find any number of bills.(even if I dont agree with them)
      3. He will find and clean out the waste (bush would not, he did everything for the support of the war and signed whatever was handed to him)
      4. He will listen to the people like the border fence, he really liked the bill he wrote but has really listened to the people and will put the fence up before working on his comprehensive immigration policy. (BO plans to just drop it)
      5. Mac will change how we deal with our allies, he knows these leaders (unlike Bush did or does).
      6. Mac will listen to strong leaders in the Military and not try to pick a path and never look back.
      7. Mac knows the his party is sick of the out of control spending and size of the govt and will work to keep both small.

You will find the vast majority of votes in the house and senate involve changing the names of post offices, congrats to sports teams, making up useless holidays and so on. So the fact is BO votes with Bush alot but over 90% with the liberal rating, the rest of the time he was running for office he never crosses party and does what he is told.

Iraq will be over sooner than later and Congress won't hold the sway with Mac and his veto pen.

McCain vote with Bush quite a bit, it's true. But so did MANY Democrats - remember "bipartisanship"? The figure is a silly figure as it's the BIG controversial votes that count, not the percentage.

      Is 95% "Significant"?

As for whether voting with Bush 95 percent of the time last year is "significant," that's a matter of opinion that we leave to readers to determine for themselves.

When doing so, they may wish to consider that Obama's votes were in line with the president's position 40 percent of the time in 2007. That shouldn't be terribly surprising. Even the Senate's Democratic leader, Harry Reid of Nevada, voted with Bush 39 percent of the time last year, according to the way Congressional Quarterly rates the votes.

The McCain campaign points out that Obama told a local TV interviewer recently that "the only bills that I voted for, for the most part, since I've been in the Senate were introduced by Republicans with George Bush." Obama was actually wrong about that. In 2006 he voted alongside the president 49 percent of the time.

First of all, McCain hates Bush. Bush personally smeared him shamelessly in the 2000 primaries, ironically, saying he'd fathered an AA child (who was turned out to be a child he adopted). This disdain was so powerful McCain didn't even personally vote for Bush in 2000. That says a lot.

      McCain voted against Bush on:

      Defense of Marriage Act
Cheney's Energy Bill (Obama voted for it)
      Bush Tax Cuts '01, '03
      Voted for Stem Cell research
      Voted "Present" on FISA

      Quote:
      On tax cuts:

      Criticizing Bush’s Tax Cut

At the time, McCain publicly criticized it as a plan that had not been outlined well. “We are about to enact one of the most massive tax cuts in memory or history, and we do not have any idea how much money is going to be devoted to defense spending and how much is going to be left over for it.”

Two years later, on the day before the U.S. invaded Iraq, McCain declared on the Senate floor that he could not vote for a second package of tax cuts worth $350 billion, most of which went to wealthy investors.

“I cannot in good conscience vote in favor of tax cuts irrespective of their size or to which segment of the population they are targeted,” he said.

But the tax cuts were hugely popular with President Bush’s Republican base, even as budget surpluses collapsed into enormous deficits. As the president prepared for his 2004 re-election bid, he told a crowd that the 10-year tax plans approved by Congress still fell short.

McCain remained the stubborn holdout. That same year, he told NBC’s Meet the Press that he voted against the tax cuts because of the disproportionate amount that went to the wealthiest Americans. “I would clearly support not extending those tax cuts in order to help address the deficit,” he said.

He was a champion of Global Warming legislation for years while his party was in denial.

      Quote:
From Jan 2008: CONCORD, N.H. -- In his final push for a primary victory, Senator John McCain arrived here this afternoon and made a pitch that might have surprised voters: He cast himself as the environmentalist of the presidential campaign.

"I will clean up the planet," McCain said. "I will make global warming a priority."

Then there was the McCain/Feingold Act for Campaign Finance and McCain-Kennedy Immigration Bill in 2007.

Both were Bipartisan efforts with very liberal democratic Senators.

Kerry was considering McCain as VP in 2004. Again, if McCain is really "George Bushes 3rd term" was Kerry an idiot? Did McCain really reverse decades of ideology in 4 years? No, he didn't. He's one of the most moderate Republicans in office.

There are other examples, but those are the major ones
