TweetMMA ...it isn't even remotely close
TweetPersonally, I think boxing is more exciting. Both are equally as good of athletes. However, IMO, boxing takes more skill. In MMA, you can use many weapons. A choke, a kick, a slap, a punch, a take down, etc.... Boxing, you just punch. And the target is much smaller. And when you watch an extremely skilled fighter, like Pretty Boy Floyd, it makes it that much more fun. Google the Floyd mayweather Arturo Gotti fight. That was mad fun to watch!!!

Are you serious? How can boxing take more skill, when you only have to master one skill as opposed to many in MMA? In boxing all you have to worry about is getting punched. In MMA you have to worry about punches, leg kicks, takedowns, wrestling, and then on the ground you have to worry about subs, GnP...etc...Boxing's skill level is no comparison to the skill level you must have in MMA. Didn't Terry Martin leave the UFC for a little while to pursue boxing and KOd his first 3 or 4 opponents? Wasn't Marcus Davis a very successful boxer and just got beat by Mike Swick? James Irvin was also a boxer wasn't he....and just got smoked by Anderson Silva. I would be willing to bet that any MMA fighter can go over to boxing with more success than a boxer coming to MMA. The target is the same size, you are just coming in with more skills to throw at the target in MMA(with the exception of kicks to the legs). I think MMA is a much more respectful sport that takes a great deal more skill to become accomplished in. I also think that boxing is MUCH less dangerous. Do some research on the number of deaths between the two. I just don't see there being much of an argument on the skill level between the two.

Tweetpunching is intuitive. jiu jitsu is an art form that takes years to learn.
anyone can punch, and you just need to learn to punch better.
throw a guy on the ground and he wont be able to apply a triangle or kimura.
application of a sub must be set up and applied with several moves against an opponent that is fighting and probably recognizes what is coming.
i do both (i only box for MMA). MMA takes 10X the stamina and 10X more "cerebral activity" as it isnt just reactive.
MMA rules hands down
TweetI have also trained both. I was boxing out of high school into college, and have since trained Muay Thai and BJJ. Totally different IMO
