MCCAIN RIPS O TIMETABLE FOR 'DEFEAT'

TweetWASHINGTON - John McCain charged Barack Obama with dangerously waffling on Iraq, and warned that recent gains there would vanish if the Democrat stuck to his timetables for withdrawal.

"We are winning," McCain said yesterday. "And if we adopt Sen. Obama's proposal for a set date for withdrawal, this very fragile success that we have achieved will be jeopardized."

"Senator Obama was wrong when he said [the surge] wouldn't succeed. He was wrong when he said we've lost the war. And he is wrong today when he says that Iraq is not the central battleground" in the war on terrorism, McCain told reporters in Phoenix yesterday.

The political firefight between McCain and Obama erupted on a day when the presumptive Democratic nominee penned a piece in The New York Times saying that he would withdraw troops within 16 months of assuming the presidency.

"I would not hold our military, our resources and our foreign policy hostage to a misguided desire to maintain permanent bases in Iraq," Obama wrote.

He said he would shift about 9,000 troops to Afghanistan and Pakistan, "where the Taliban is resurgent and al Qaeda has a safe haven."

"That is why, on my first day in office, I would give the military a new mission: ending this war," he said.

Tweetimsorry..im not going to disagree for the sake of argument..but obama made a great speech with alot of good points while mccain sounded like an idiot..you dont have to spen time on the ground to know whats going on...if that were the case then people who havent been there shouldnt have an opinion...and obama was right in saying that iraq has only distracted us from the real goal...and he was especially right in saying we need to do something about pakistan..we've been giving them millions and theyve done nothing to help...pakistan cannot be trusted..if be****r bhutto had been put back in charge we wouldnt have a problem..but they had her killed and now we do...

Tweeti also want to say that people need to get this notion out of their heads that by us laying out a timetable and leaving it wiil show defeat..we have given the iraqi government a free ride for far too long..they take summers off for chist sake while our troops are getting killed..this needed to happen a long time ago..make their government responsible and let them start handling things..given a realistic timeline they will be forced to do their phuckin jobs...we are not admitting defeat if we leave...we are accomplishing what we set out to do...give them a democratic government so they have their own soveirgn nation...
