It might reduce the price a bit when it gets up and running in about 8 years or so but where will gas prices be then. They make is sound like it is a quick solution which it is not going to be, but as i said I think nuclear is a good way to go

Oil is a finite resource and takes millions of years to reproduce. We have been raping and pillaging oil as if it were the sun and able to come back everyday just like the day before, but it obviously just doesn't work that way. I tend to think outside the box with a lot of things and I just can't grasp on to the notion or theory that oil output is being manipulated for economic gain.

Sure someone is always making a good buck on this oil and it's possible things might be slightly skewed but I can't fathom to think that the whole world oil is rigged to what we have today. There are too many explanations as to why we are here today then there is actual evidence of a conspiracy to control oil output and prices.....there's just too many variables and explanations.

The real problem is known and is very simple. We have too many people living on Earth. This massive population we have is becoming more and more advanced in areas of the world it previously wasn't (ie. China, India, etc) thus requiring these countries along with the US's non-stop need for energy to grow at an alarming rate that we have never witnessed in history.

The average American consumes six times more energy than the world average, and when countries like India and China become more advanced their need for energy is going to skyrocket like ours, thus putting an already stretched oil market from years of previous overconsumption at a tipping point.

It's simple supply and demand. You have "Product A" produced at a high rate and relatively inexpensive for a relatively long time. This product will most likely be used frequently and with little to no discretion as it isn't directly causing any negative effects such as cost or shortages so there has never been a actual warranted need to worry (that is until now).

But now "Product A" from being relatively inexpensive for so long and readily available has caused the DEMAND to become more than the SUPPLY. It's common business knowledge....when demand is more than supply you raise the price to not just increase profits but also push the demand for that product down to help keep a constant and steady supply of that product. This price increase may cause you to lose some customers and revenue due to inability to afford the new price change, but that is not a problem to worry about. Because in essence what is going on is you've raised the prices to cut the DEMAND down. You've cut the demand by raising prices and thus forcing people with lower revenues to find alternative options while the people with more revenue are paying more for the same product but this product is more regulated and not as likely to run out due to less demand b/c of price.

What we are seeing is countries that are densely populated (ex. China or India) and their economies are picking up and they are moving forward technologically and economically thus requiring more energy than they previously did 10 or so years ago and it's continuing to grow, along with our energy needs. What's not growing is oil production, especially in the USA (I'll touch up later on what or why I think lack of production in the USA). So we have two major problems here oil consumption is growing and oil exportation/production is slowing.

With oil fields across the globe drying up and producing less oil because all the "easy" oil has already been obtained it's causing a slow down in the exportation of oil because more time consuming and exspensive methods are now needed to get the oil.

When an economy and a population is growing the need for finite resources are obviously going to increase to help keep the economy and life moving forward in an acceptable way. We've obviously had issues in the past with oil and energy prices but only short term shortages or price increases, never anything really substantial. That is until now...... I don't see oil ever going back to being widely available and available at a low cost as we've been used to. From what I've read and watched on various shows it's only going to get worse as time goes along and it makes sense b/c our consumption will still remain high and oil exportation/production will continue to slow with most of the "easy" oil already found and used.

We literally have no back up plan for oil. There is no "Plan B" or really even one being seriously worked on that would be a feasible alternative to oil and that's scary to think our whole world depends on oil to survive and we know there is only so much of it......but how much? It seems were content living this way till it just runs out or rather dries up to the point that wars and massive loss of life is attributed to it.

Which brings me to my notion on why we really don't drill for oil in America as much as we could is that WHY SHOULD WE? Yeah expensive gas prices suck but it's better than no gas and so far the American public has been able to absorb, for the most part, the gas price increase. So why should we tap into our non-renewable resources when we got other countries lining up to let us rape their land for oil. Then when we've consumed all that we can, we still got our "untouched" stockpile and not stockpile we keep in case of an emergency. I'm talking about Alaska, Gulf of Mexico, etc. All for the most part untapped oil producing areas that we would be foolish to use so soon when we have other areas to access oil.

he reason we in America don't drill for oil now is that we'd be stupid to do so. Yeah gas prices suck at $4 a gallon but people in Washington aren't dumb. Why should we tap into our natural resources now and use them up when we can use everyone else's oil first then when shit starts to hit the fan elsewhere we can concentrate on getting oil here where it's basically untapped in comparison to the rest of the world so it makes perfect sense in the government's eyes to let other countries rape their lands first before we have to turn to our own.
