Here it is prime time allergy season. I'm allergic to just about everything that blooms and then some. The allergist has me on Allegra and a decongestant. The decongestant I take every night, because I'm also allergic to dust mites. My head will stop up the minute my head hits the pillow. I go to pick up my refill on my decongestant and the pharmacist said they were out and couldn't fill the whole Rx. I would have to come back in a couple days when the shipment comes in.

When I went back, they tell me that the decongestant has been discontinued. I asked about a substitute and they tell me that something that the FDA has passed and non of the pharmaceutical companies have complied to the new law, so they can't sell any of them any more. The only one that is able to market theirs is Mucinex. Since they are the only ones, they have jacked the price up. The pharmacist called my allergist about a replacement, and they said there isn't one to take the Mucinex.

Here I am... starting of allergy season and I'm about out of Allegra and my decongestant. Never tried Mucinex and I don't have all that drainage, so I'm not even sure if this is what I need to be taking.

Has anyone else ran across this? Are you having trouble getting medicine for your allergies?

i took mucinex last week. i think i had the flu, but i dont know...i was stuffed up all week, then sat. afternoon, i felt like i was hit by a truck!! i was so stuffed up my nose was raw from wiping it (never mind blowing it...my head killed me just trying!).
mucinex worked great!! sun, i continued taking, even though the aches were gone...it dries ya up.

Hmmm... I'm going to have to find something, so I'll check out the different mucinex. Maybe there will be one that will work for me.

MrOntario, my allergist does give me Rx for Nasalcort, but I haven't filled it in awhile. Looks like I might be going back to it. I like Flonase, but my doc changed it to Nasalcort.

Nasonex is good for food allergies as well. Allot people don't know or realise they unless they get tested!
