TweetMy wife's car, it turns out, has an alarm system. You can imagine my surprise when the obnoxious sound of a car alarm keeps going off while I'm trying to work and I go outside to see my wife freaking out and the sound coming from her car. On top of the alarm sound, the car won't start.
So, I call the number on the window and this dude tells me to find the chrome toggle switch and flip it off and on. Where, there's no toggle switch. So, I call another place here in town and they tell me to find the 'brain box' and follow the wires out until I find the switch. Well, I pulled off half the damn dash and followed every damn wire from that stupid box and nothing. No button, no switch, nothing! So, I eventually just pulled the wire plug completely out of the 'brain box' and the car will start.
So, who on here knows anything about these things? If at all possible, I would like to put it back together and get a new remote for it. But, I need to find out how to plug the wire thing back in without the alarm disabling my ignition system.
Please help!!!!!

TweetIs this an aftermarket alarm? If not there should be something in the owners manual. Maybe you could just yank the fuse if nothing else is runnin off of it.
Tweetaftermarket??
TweetWell, I have it turned off and the car will start again. But....if we have an alarm on the car I would like to use it. I know I can get a new remote ordered for it but I don't know what I need to do to make it not shut the ignition off. Right now, everything is fine and the car will start, but I have the thing disconnected.
TweetMost factory alarms only require that you lock your doors from your keyring remote if the alarm is tripped. That should be all it takes to shut it off.

TweetSo it's an aftermarket alarm, right? And you pulled the plug on the "brain box" for the alarm? Am I following you so far?... Just call the company that makes that alarm tomorrow is all you can do, and thank god all you had to do was pull the plug and everything is good to go. Now you're ready to open a chop shop, lol.
