Tweetsome companies will not even give out salary info. The company I used to work for would only give companies verification of work and that is it. I wouldnt worry to much if I were you.
TweetOk gang,
I got my paperwork to complete for my new job and the application asks several things and I'm curious about some of them.
1. When they contact my previous employer's what information can my previous employer's give them in regards to work, salary etc.?
2. What other means can they verify employment and salary.
There is also this....
I authorize investigation of all statements contained in this application including the review of my credit history, review of my criminal records(if any), and any other inquiries which may be necessary in arriving at an employment decision... I ... give the company persmission to contact schools, previous employers(unless otherwise indicated), reference, and others, and hereby release the company from any liablility as a result of such contact. I understand that any false, incomplete, or misleading information will be grounds for rejection of this application or, subsequently discovered, grounds for termination.
So is just that just a blanket policy that covers their arse?
And it continues...
I understand that, in connection with the routine processing of the employment application, the company may request from a consumer reporting agency an investigative consumer report including information ast to my credit records, character, general reputation, personal characteristics, and mode of living. Upon written request from me, the company, will provide me with additional information concerning the nature of the scope of any such report requested by it, as required by the fair credit reporting act.
So am I getting a full blown background check on me and where could they get this information especially salary reports. I think that is a personal matter.
Any thoughts?

TweetAny more then verification of work from start to end is against the law. Credit can be checked along with your criminal background. Don't worry to much it's just a job. But don't go by what I say cus I haven't looked for a job for three decades.

TweetThen how can they verify salary?
This sheet doesn't have a place for bonuses... so where would I add them?

TweetThe first one is definitely trying to cover their ass but as Oldwiseguy said, its very limited to what a past employer can reveal without breaking the law. Work history and would you rehire him?
The second one sounds like a credit check with a couple of things thrown in their for extra bull$hit. :/ I don't know.
I like the new avatar.

TweetA standard background check cost's about $20. I do them all the time. It will give me any criminal history and basic credit information. Let's me know if someone has been convicted or even charged with a crime. Employers cannot say anything but dates of employment and if they are eligible for rehire.

Tweet1. Your past employer will say what you want them to with a little assitance (you will have to fly Vinny in from San Fran, but he will take care of that part for you).
2. I really don't think your previous employer can talk about salary, they will probably see if they can get it from your credit report or your social security info. I get a letter every year from SS telling me what I made the last several years. That's about the only way I can see them getting it personally.
Tweetthanks bud, he congrats on your test. ONLY an 87?! The proctor must have been hot.. did you score a number ????LMFAO!! ooops your married
