The doctor's assistant calls today to schedule an appointment, guess what she says.........July 24th!!!! ARE YOU ****ING KIDDING ME? Two freaking months to get surgery. I can walk and work just fine but it hurts and I can't work out. Two fukcing months is insane. Now I got to go find another doc or this one bettr change something b/c I can't keep taking steps back. I'm already down 15 lbs and hating myself, not eating right, partying now cuz I don't have **** else to do, knee hurts, etc.

Why not turn a negative into a positive and eat right and train upper body?? I had shoulder surgery and was able to recover fast as hell cause I did other things to stay in shape as well as take vitamins and healthy lifestyle. I mean it sucks to hear about your knee bro but to just totally give up due to it is an excuse. Im not trying to bust your balls but I think you should stop partying and get back to training. Good luck bro, been down that road a few times and making the best of it will help your mental and physical state in the long run

No need to stop training. Do as the above have posted.
When I tore the tendon on my elbow, it slowed me down, but I didn't
stop traiing. I had to modify my routines and exercises to work around the injury,
      but I never stopped training.
Eat right, and train the upper body!

man, I feel your pain bro. When I tore the Achilles I didn't want to do anything. Of course, I had reason, I couldn't even carry the 45's from the weight tree to the BB, so the only thing I could have done was machines. So, I waited until I was completely done with PT to start back. I too ate like crap, but I didn't party, that's something I've let go of but I know what you mean.

Looking back, I'm glad I didn't do anything because of the possible problems I could have caused myself before PT was over. I wanted the absolute green light before I stepped back into the gym. However, my surgery took place within a few days of the tear. Tendons are like a cable, the longer they go torn the more they will frey and then the surgeon has to cut off the freyed part and that reduces the flexability and all that. Not sure if it applies to the meniscus though but I saw MRI pics of Achilles tears where people waited a couple months before the surgery and the tendon was all freyed apart. That poor person is going to have issues for ever because they waited. My surgeon said he had had tendon tears up to a month old and not have re-tears, but most things over a month old cause for such a cut back on the tendon it ultimately puts more stress on the tendon due to lack of flexibilty. Also, my surgeon is one of the best in the state and he does a lot of work for the US Olympic athletes that train at the US Olympic Training Center here in town, so he's good.

Tearing your meniscus and your achilles are on a totally different planet....Not even close to the same amount of pain and immediate attention. I am working on my Masters in Ex science and I have seen them both in person and Id take a torn meniscus anyday...Depending on seriousness of each tear of course...Doesnt mean it doesnt hurt or require IMMEDIATE attention, but lesser of two evils. I guess its just a lifestyle for some people and others just a hobby, thats the difference.

I agree man, when I went through a couple knee surgeries in a row I stay focused and did what I could for the other body parts its frustrating but your heeling time will improve with continuing the bodybuilding lifestyle. Plus alcohol and recs really wreak havoc on your immune system, liver, central nervous system, etc...all needed for a speedy recovery bro!...chin up big guy!

Yeah, mine was a complete rupture, so it required immediate surgery. From what I gather, people can still funtction with a torn meniscus, but no way with an Achilles rupture, you can't even walk. However, wouldn't the freying of the tendon be the same thing? The longer you wait, the more they have to cut away, right? But yeah, cutting away at the Achilles I would imagine would be worse because that's yoru life line, that's what enables you to walk.

As for the pain, mine hurt the worst after the surgery. I guess it have something to do with the nerves being reconnected because the pain was much much worse after surgery than it was the few days before surgery. I could take those little pain pills and be just fine, but, after surgery I needed the big hugh mac daddy pills just to sleep.
