Tweeti've said the same damn thing myself!! i agree %!!
TweetLike a lot of folks in this state, I have a job. I work, they pay me.
I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as they see fit. In
order to get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine test, which I have no problem with.
What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who
don't have to pass a urine test. Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to
get a welfare check, because I have to pass one to earn it for them?
Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their
feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sit on their ass!
Could you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?

TweetI don`t think it is your employers right to piss test you in the first place! That`s BS. If you use drugs, then it is the responsibility of the Police Department to bust you and no body elses. I don`t disagree with your feelings about the welfare situation. But I think a pee test is a violation of your privacy.
TweetI think it depends on the job. In my business, nursing home, say someone drops a resident or abuses them. This is bad enough, but in the event of a law suit, an attorney would have a field day with the person being on drugs too. Also, with workers comp premiums being so damn high, we get a break for being a certified drug free workplace. We don't do random per say, but we do pre-employment, in the event of an accident and if suspected. This way, we better protect the residents, better protect against workers comp claims and get our little discount. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before the state mandates it too. We also run a small non emergency transport business but the state already requires drug testing on them.
Tweetdamn good point, a very, very high percentage would fail. It is sad but true.
TweetI AGREE 200%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tweeti agree welfare people should get tested, but i dont think its necessary for people of every occupation to be tested.I just think if you are capable of doing your job well and your not hurting anyone besides yourself then let that person be.

TweetAs a business owner I agree with piss tests for safety reasons. If I let some guy that would fail a piss test come in and use a radial arm saw, table saw, or chop saw, I guarantee there is going to be some lost limbs! This then would open my company up to law suits.
So in essence if you don't piss test people, they do drugs and come to work high, then get hurt on the job, you get sued. So it's not only for the employees safety and their co-workers safety, but it's also for the companies financial safety.
Honestly I agree with you on this one Kite. Because it is not a violation of peoples privacy if they are asking for state / government assitance. If they want money they need to be clean and prove they aren't drug addicts that would spend it on drugs.
But it would be a violation of privacy law if government / state tried to randomly drug test people just to find out who does drugs and who doesn't.
People looking for assistance are the ones that are looking for help. So they should have to pass tests to qualify, therefore those with good intentions would get the help they need, whereas those with bad intentions would get screwed!
TweetI require all my employees to have a pre-employement urine test.wWe have random test as part of our safetprogram. Everyone is included, drivers, warehouse personal, even office staff. They are selected by an independent testing company.
I have 13 drivers on the road, A\and this has lowered our insurance rates for our vehicles, our liability, and to some extent, or health insurance.
In the event of an accident, they go directly to the clinic for a test. That way, there is proof on no drugs in their system.
Has upset a few employees, but the testing is done everyone, so there can be no cries of discrimination
Push it, Pull it, Rack it. Repeat untill wide!!
Take nothing I say as serious, What do I know, I sell water!!

id agree for jobs like those
its a weird topic because some people are fully functional on drugs and some it may effect differently..My last two jobs ive worked with half of the office being high every day and noone would even know, im not condoning drug use just saying most can still function in every day life, therefore i think it should be up to the individual how they treat their bodies unless a coworkers safety depends on them..Maybe im just a hippie.
