he came limping home, arm all bloody, shoe off limping holding his stomach(handle bar got him). his buddies were all with him

i ran out to see what happened. (bike stunt gone awry) He didnt shed one tear. as we were all walking in the house he asked his buddies to wait out front. once inside i saw a few tears ( when mom started fawning over him)as i cleaned the cuts on his arm, hip and leg. tough kid, in a weird way i am proud of the way he handled it.

they say your kids pay you back 2X for what your parents went through.

i worry all the time about the boy doing stupid stuff whether it be trying to jump a culvert on his bike or climbing to the top of a tree.

i guess you gotta let em go. he is only 8. i didnt calm down until well after college.

i guess this is my payback................................

Ah, boys will be boys my brother and you can't hold them back. It's that adventurous risk taking side of them that makes them CEO's, World Leaders, Generals, and all that other stuff. I guarantee you, no man (other than maybe Bill Gates) who is at the top of his respected job was a careful boy. It's the risks they take that prepare them for the challenges in life. Doing the impossible prepares them for life's curve balls. You have the right mindset bro, let them be boys and just make sure they don't go too far, that's all. Bones and cuts will heal, but death is forever so just make sure they know risky from crazy and you'll be fine. My son is only 4 but he's a HUGE adrenaline junky and I know I'm in trouble. I used to climb up on my parents roof and jump off to practice how to land right. I was in 5th or 6th grade. I used to be a big time daredevil on my bike and motorcycle. Broke my arm twice. Same arm, doing the same thing, riding with no hands. Well, I eventually got it down because I never broke my arm again and I sure as heck didn't stop riding with no hands. LOL

Your boy is a tough kid, that's for sure, good for him. His friends probably think he's a bad ass now for not crying.

I was a lil rounder to say the least. I still walk willies and what not on my sport bikes. I am about to get another one because it seems that I finally have reached a point to be able to go to the track once a month and that was my deal. Wouldn't get another one until I had time for the real track. That's what they're for. Not traffic.

Didn't you get your boy a CR or CRF 80 a while back? I remember a post about it here way back. Might not have been you.
